I find Rending Strikes fine to have, but man Onslaught should just be straight damage to continuous shots. It warps the balance of automatic, fast-firing weapons to a ridiculous degree.
Same with Uncanny Strikes on Knife and Dueling Swords. Things should get deleted off the game.
why do crushers matter so much to some people? There’s like 20 a map tops, unless you get multiple patrols of just cavity creeps. they’re slower in reaction and attack speed than maulers more slots are taken up by each crusher and they AoE their teammates. he’s basically your buddy.
but no the flamer is garbage because crushers and everything needs to range burst crushers for some reason.
you don’t need yellow toughness, you just need iron will and 175 toughness total. this just begs the question further if you’re a veteran main. crushers do not matter that much.
So the carapace enemies are rampant and are the biggest threat in the game right now (more or less).
And you’re asking to reduce the amount of builds/weapons that can deal with them?
the game should not reward you for hitting carapace with the wrong type of attacks, there is literally a voice line about this
you should get rewarded instead if you put yourself at risk and attempt a heavy melee attack or draw an unwieldy and inconvenient heavy specialistic ranged weapon like boltgun and plasmagun
Do they? Why is it a big deal that weapon that normally can’t kill Crushers can do so, but at expense of a lot of its ammo, not to mention that going for Onslaught + RS requires you to spend a lot of skill points for a weakness that can be offset in many other ways.
Veterans can 2-shot Crushers with Power Sword 6 push follow-up attack into L4 to the head, and can reasonably one-shot them Foldshovel 3 and 7, while having the ability to remain relatively safe while doing that with either of the melee weapons I mentioned.
And it’s not a problem in the grand scheme of things with how the player characters are power-creeping the enemies, really.
So it should reward stupidity? If there are more then 2 crushers (which happens alot) that will get you killed and you will drag down your team.
Unless you’re using a melee with alot of mobility like the dueling sword/knife.
That’s the point of those talents.
They can turn the “wrong type attack” into an"acceptable type of attack".
You are literally complaining about those talents doing exactly what they are supposed to do: making more weapons/attacks viable for dealing with carapace.
I would also like to add from a cinematic PoV seeing a barrage of Lasgun fire is pretty 40k metal. Having a squad understand firing lines and be succesfful is very rewarding. I encourage the game to allow for builds that lets Vets want to use full auto madness, Instead of poke, poke, stab, giggle.
I was never a big Imperial fan as a kid, it was too easy to scream OrKs oRkS Orks, yes I the idiot-kid who should up with unpainted Wagghs to meet-ups… Because lets be honest, the Rule of Cool is the only thing that matters in 40k. I also couldnt afford paint and my fingers were always glued together.
Back on topic, I enjoy Dakka. More DAKKA!
For a more serious PoV, yes I 100% agree with this. This approach is what made V2 so great. You had to time moves and position correctly. I do not know the solution but I don’t think nerfing fun is the answer.
Its a tough cookie, I think the difficulty for me, as an Ogryn main, I seeing a vet shooting and understanding what is happening. I have little way of knowing what their build is, the builds are too specific and nuanced I cant really tell what’s going on unless something is on fire… too much visual clutter…
Zealot mains denounce Vets plasma guns as major offenders because its unfair to them that when they finally reach their targets they just vanish in a whoop
(basically it hurts their scoreboard feelings)
i find plasma inconvenient enough to stick to my bolter for most of my games, but i think the smartest way to buff bolters is to just remove Onslaught to get them back in their niche
why would i bring a bolter if a grey recon lasgun with 50% damage stat does the same job with 1/5 of the magazine
Onslaught is a problem you like it or not, pretty much like all rending/brittleness traits
Lets look at it from a different perspective. Is it actually breaking the game? Do you see hordes of veterans running around in every match with those 2 talents selected?
And when 1 does join, does it completely trivialize the match making it unfun?
Personally i havent noticed anything that broke the game when playing with a rapid fire vet.
Tried out the bolter recently, and the problem isnt that the recon guns are that great. Its that bolter has been nerfed too much. (but then again, i never liked using the bolter in the first place so im biased here)
a mechanic breaks the game regardless of what players do with their lives
the feedback i get from most of the newcomers is similar to this, they think bolter got nerfed when it wasn’t
the only nerf bolter got was the pinning fire nerf in patch 13 which was much deserved, the rest of the ‘‘nerfs to bolter’’ were just nerf to the class in general, which i would agree on their unfairness
Veteran is by far the weakest of the 4 classes no matter what your Zealot main claims
Bolter got a substantial buff in patch 14 and made it super strong compared to a pre patch 12 bolter without pinning fire blessing on
Yes, the game has a difficult way of dealing with benefits for ranged and melee combat, I need to hit things in melee to sustain and if a vet is killing everything while im being peppered by range fire I will die. Vets who play like that are killing their teamates who need chaff. But thats a very difficult concept and not worth getting into with a vet during the game, it will just jade the lobby and start the spiral we all dredd towards a mighty doom.
I’ve seen a huge uptick in vets with lasguns, but I like that.
I digress a bit but, if bolter was always $hit why did everyone love and praise it so much all the time?.. I just dont get that gun… Everytime i tried it, it was always terrible.
Anyway
You started this whole thread because you want to remove/nerf 1 powerful and 1 ok-ish talents from vet and now you’re saying vet is the weakest class in the game? So you want to make it even weaker then it already is?
Have some grudge against vets or smth?
