idk how well this would work but it feels like it could be done in a fun way based on its ammunition being a bow for the zealot that is slow to fire but could perhaps some variants with a ap shot that basically oneshots anything at a full charge and flies far but not as fast as a quickshot bow that can be used in rapid succession and has the shots fly futher before starting to drop faster and than maybe also an explosive shot that moves slow and takes its time to charge but can act as a vet frag grenade whenever needed basically.
While in 40k bows are practically nonexistent in the Imperium despite on Feudal Worlds, much more common and especially in the Ordo Hereticus are Crossbows. It would function similar to what you mentioned although wouldn’t have draw time differences.
Additionally more common than that are the Ordo Hereticus Condemnor Boltguns, which combines a classic bolter with a holy stake firing crossbow.
