New Trailer: Bound by Duty

If you remember well when zealot and psyker got relic blades you was asking for the same so probably this is what will happen. I just hate playing vet because there is a big identity class problem. But I really like a good vet in the team. A rework and maybe a new rifle would be better but we don’t have any real choice about this. When I say identity problem this is because they don’t know what to do with this class. But for sure after 10 editions of table top game codex and much more… they never understand what to do with vet. Vet isn’t a commissary isn’t an officer. This is a vet. They have all mixed and they are trapped now. The only way they can correct vet is to decide this is the soldiers of emperor with all the stuff. Like hot shot gun power fist and all. They are not commissar they are not anything else.

Oh look, nothing… plz just release vermintide 3 already, it never began for darktide

Sure they will do an age of sigmar game totally uninteresting. The worst part of GW. Even they start to restart the old world because this was a big mistake

Since I’ve started playing Helbore only I’ve found joy in how a “vet” should feel gameplay wise, unique from the other classes

Helbore buff was both a blessing and a curse cuz right now it’s nearly as OP as plasma lol

This is not changing what vet will become. This is pretty sad.

While I’m sure most of us amongst the Veteran playerbase would’ve preferred another unique gun, (Stubber / Volleygun plz Fatshark) or a Melee that isn’t on the derivative side like a Power Fist or Hunting Lance, I’m stoked we have a usable power sword. Couldn’t care less how it compares in stats to the clunky af OG, because there is likely going to be little comparison for usability and enjoyment, for me at least. Besides, Falchion had a great moveset in Vt2, so I’m very glad it returns to DT.

On the one hand, it took them 9.5 months to follow up on a Vet weapon.

On the other, they did say ‘next year’. And it was within a year. So technically they pulled it off.

And probably also going to be the only Weapon being added with the Update…like a year after the last Weapons Update…but not a surprise when its like one guy working on it (as they said in Grim Protocol Notes on Steam when it released) who takes 90% of the year vacation.

It sounds like all the elements of a well designed melee weapon take a long time to make, based on the animator discussions for FGS/RB. And they’re only part of the process.

This why I’m really hoping that this Power Falchion/Power Sword 2.0 isn’t the only new f***ing weapon in this update. As much as I can appreciate how long it takes to make a new weapon among other things like getting Arbites ready for release, the notion that we had to wait for the better part of a year for only one Veteran weapon and have that be a Power Sword with the Relic Blade heat mechanic slapped on is just plain insulting.

We’ll have to wait and see but I suspect that “new” weapon might be the only new toy players at large will be getting. FS is gonna FS but when I see them pinch out a 25 second teaser for an update 10 days before release without any other information at the time of writing: My first inclination is to suspect that they’re keeping quiet about it because they know it’s not much to write home about, if it was they’d be crowing about it and building up hype way earlier.

Veterans do become officers and commissars though, and Veteran class does seem to blend the challenge of skill with themed power fantasies

Voice Of Command exemplifies the Veteran Officer and or Commissar role

Executioners Stance is the most commonly challenging, cursed “skill issue” ability on the Vet Talent Tree. Fingers crossed its getting fixed by next week!

The Officers Power Sword being “Power Sword P2” being the likely new Vet item seems like it is the answer to players that wanted Vet to have a “better” power sword option.

I figured the Veteran is the focus of this next update as per the title “Bound By Duty”

Due to that title, I can only hope that they are releasing more content for Veteran (not just one thing for Veteran being a new weapon)

Plenty of players like myself have bought the cosmetics from Commodores Vestures for the fun of creating regimental themed builds (Death Korps Of Krieg, Armageddon Steel Legion, Armageddon Ork Hunters, Cadian Shock Troops, and with clever enough mixing and matching, made Catachan Jungle Fighter despite the lack of cosmetics that exemplifies them best)

Alongside what you have conveyed, if this next update is smaller in content release compared to the past two this year, it makes me wonder how much content is to be released before Christmas in December update

Of course that update would fall in line with the whole idea of larger content amount being released as a “present” to players, and to tide players over whilst FS goes on winter vacation for two months

It would be nice, but I think we both know it’s not gonna happen. We’re going to probably see very little added or changed, with no explanation or justification for why there’s so little work being done.

Seems weird to have a class rework that goes straight to release after the manner in which Ogryn had the rework previewed. Perhaps that experience confirmed the devs believe that silence is golden?

It costs less to ignore.

However, in the long run, their credibility is errored.

I will never buy another FS game and at least two of my past DT friends are in the same boat.

Unless… they massively deliver.

Well we have had so many ragebaiters and such go unhinged when something is said by CMs about upcoming content or things to be done in DT, and when things are postponed or absent, those that do so go reeeeet

Nah, this is on Fatshark. Their seeming inability to not exaggerate or outright lie is what created the ‘ragebaiters’.

Rather than fixing their comms they’ve chosen to say nothing. That’s a mistake.

Saw this in the wild today. Reminded me of what’s possible when you’re genuinely in-tune with your audience and exercise a little bit of humility.

3 days out and no idea what this update is going to be, they must be embarrassed already

  1. The update is so massive that there’s no time to write patch notes or a blog.
  2. The update is so trash that they’re delaying its release as much as possible to avoid pre-update backlash.
  3. Whoever came up with the idea thought it was a good move to release an update without announcing any details.
