I’m having a great vacation in Poe2, HD2, Valheim and other games, and I’m already starting to miss Darktide and here this?
If this is really some kind of rebalance of Mortis or its expansion on a similar principle - ugh.
If this is a melee weapon for a veteran - this is not even a slap in the face, I don’t know what to call it, almost a year to make a melee weapon for a shooter.
So I understand it’s better not to expect anything good
not a DLC.
Fatshark gives names for updates…
And if it is only a new melee weapon it won’t even be a true new melee, it will be a reskin of the power sword with the heat mechanic of the relic blade according to the dataminers. It took them 1 year to mix 2 weapons they already had for the class that has been entirely designed around being the ranged class
Different move-set, probably at least partly adapted from VT2 falchions.
The move sets are by far the most complicated part of any weapon in this game, not the skin or the mechanic.
The datamine states that there’ll be at least two Power Falchion Marks. I’d expect one of them to adhere somewhat strictly to the Moveset of Saltzpyre’s Falchion. This’d have my complete and utter support, of course.
For those not in the know, the Moveset of Saltzpyre’s Falchion looks like this:
Yeah falchion is an armor (but not super armor piercing anymore that was the saddest nerf of all taking that valid hit off the lights) piercing sword with less cleave. Ideally for Veteran it would be super single target focused without using stamina like the Mk6 power sword. And still able to do stuff without a power button like relic blade.
Not the most interesting weapon (Veteran needs a gun) but probably mid or high in the scheme of melee weapons.
Ha, I just realized the guy is resting an energized power weapon on his shoulders. His upper back should be vaporized, lol. Oh, well. Maybe he has the master-crafted relic version with the “shoulder-safe spine rest” upgrade.
Gotcha. I wasn’t aware of the data-mine. I just thought it’d be funny if the reason they hadn’t nerfed the duelling sword yet was because they were about to introduce a power version of it that makes it look like a flimsy spork.
They do seem to be embracing the “power fantasy” model of gameplay rather than the skilled underdog challenge they started as, so intentional power creep doesn’t surprise me anymore but the return of the beloved falchion from VT2 is quite welcome. It’s just a bit of a shame that it’s taken nearly 3 years. (And still no halberd or spear sigh . . . )
Helbore!
that’s ok if we can just tell who’s shooting. vets with recon are irritating.
Should be differentiable. I expect it’ll be like the Captains’ plasma pistol that’s already in the game. Angry orange streak and it basically just strips all your toughness.
Come to think of it, this could be their attempt to “balance” the gold toughness mechanics. On the other hand, it may make them even more valuable. I guess we’ll see.
Fire used to be the bane of toughness before it got nerfed. Fun times
Chaos Wastes maps also tend to have 2-3 entry points and paths so there is a bit of randomisation within the maps themselves on top of the usual enemy/item/shrine randomisation.
you mean those 2-3 weeks when getting your toe into fire killed you? heh ![]()
My memory may be off but I recall it being that way for a very long time.
I also remember when they first changed it to how it is now, they goofed either the DoT stacking rate or the value itself and it basically just insta-killed you. That lasted for a little bit, a few days maybe?
EDIT: Looking it up, it seems to have been changed on or around the first anniversary update.
I also found an old meme I posted about it:
I love Winter-Assault-guy memes. Winter Assault was my gateway drug into 40k.
I just want new maps for the normal mission board ![]()
Probably more psyched than most for a power falchion. Not the biggest relic blade fan but I am a huge falchion fan. Here’s hoping it isn’t mega overpowered so I don’t feel dirty using it.
The handle part seems to have a rapier-like shape. Since it’s glowing blue, it’s likely a power weapon. Could this mean it’s a variant of a power sword?
I stand corrected, I always confuse the terms used lol
Probably be billed as an ‘Officer’s Power Sword’, as the falchion style blade is particularly associated with IG officers in art and minis. The hilt guard style was also present for this type of single bladed sword before rapiers appeared, though think only one Duelling Sword has a basket style hilt, so that could be a visual difference between the two data mined marks of our new sword.
Was hoping new Vet weapon would be firearm tbh but oh well.
Power Falchion doesn’t seem like much compared to Zealot’s relic blade or Psyker’s Force greatsword, it feel more like a sidegrade of Power Sword if anything.
but maybe it would be suprisingly fun to use idk.
