I thought of an idea for a modifier that basically works like this:
“Nurgle’s Finest”
The spawn rates are significantly reduced, but every enemy that does spawn has a very high boost in health, damage (both melee and ranged), attack speed and stagger resistance. That would affect bosses as well, but the chance of them spawning would be reduced to compensate for it. The same goes for Specialist enemies.
How the modifier would affect the gameplay
Such a modifier would increase the difficulty and intensity of each, individual encounter and hordes of buffed Groaners/Poxwalkers would probably have to be faced by an entire team in order for everyone to live, so it would incentivize players sticking together.
In-lore justification
Lore justification for this modifier could be that either Admonition’s witches or maybe even Nurgle himself have decided to test their troops and cast some powerful Plague Magic upon them to see if they’re worthy of its power. Most died, and probably exploded in a gorey explosion of blood and pus, but those that survived have been blessed with blessings more powerful than ever.
Visual indicator for enemies affected
Visual indication could either be classical “green effect on enemies affected” but every enemy would be affected here so it could be something creative instead. Like, maybe every enemy would get a Mutated Poxwalker treatment, where one of their hand is just a giant tentacle. Maybe they could also get the heads of enemies we get in Cranial Corruption modifier, where there are tentacles sprawling out of their skulls?
Details on Enemy Density
When I think how much fewer enemies we would have to face, I’d say that the Auric difficulty with this modifier would have enemy density comparable to Malice. Like, it has received a Low Intensity Engagement modifier - fewer roaming enemies, fewer hordes, reinforcing enemies and Specialists, much fewer bosses, but this time, every enemy is also immensely buffed.
So what do you think? Does this modifier sound good or bad? Would you like to see this implemented into the game? Let me know what you think.
