Mutants frequently grab you when they are clearly and visibly running clear past you. Often times you will see them exit your field of vision and then, somehow, still grab you. If you run a 3rd person mod, this becomes even more glaringly obvious as you can clearly see your character warp into their hand, despite being in the clear. This also becomes obvious when a mutant begins its charge close to you, where you dodge away just as it begins moving, but you still end up getting grabbed.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Encounter a mutant.
Do some testing of its reach and “grab radius”.
It’s a highly situational thing. Attempting to reproduce it in the Psykanium is unlikely to recreate the issue. No one said it was hard, so take that somewhere else.
What I am describing is not a failure to dodge it. I’m talking about them running past you and still grabbing you. If you can’t successfully reproduce the issue on your end, that does not automatically make it a skill issue on my end.
Most likely is just ping related, i wouldn’t call it skill issue if u are running +150 ping, it’s still very easy to dodge because of how telegraphed it is, but there are instances in where the player is not at fault for getting grabbed.
Ping could be an issue some of the time but I don’t think it’s the cause every time. I remember this not being an issue and then suddenly becoming one after a patch (I noted this at the time here).
The types of situations I’m describing here often go down like this:
Mutant charges.
I dodge.
He misses.
He turns around to charge again.
I dodge to the side.
He runs off towards where I dodged from. Maybe 15-25 degrees off to my side, from his POV.
I get grabbed, despite not being physically close enough to where he is or where he is going to get grabbed.
usually around the 30-40 mark and still mutants that have physically passed my ogryn by 2 arms length on my client pov get a “reminder” from the server to drag me along.
though technically it is a misplay on my part cause the mutant didnt really pass me by even though its displayed this way.
its kinda a "too good to be true"situation with the only way to prevent is dodging him correctly or evading to our left/his right side.
naturally that motion doesnt “feel” right and one is stepping to the shortest distance aka the players right side.
so yes, server’s wonky but no, mutant does what he’s supposed to.
kinda mixed bag.
