Moebian Domain, a New Mission Modifier

Idea to make enemies more challenging without health buffs. This mission modifier and the following suggested enemies would add more combat variety to the game, potentially altering how players approach situations and encouraging more tactical thought to engagements.

The Moebian Domain

The Traitorous Moebian 6th are sabatoging communications in the area, expect higher Moebian presence, and treacherous conditions.

Treacherous Conditions: Poxwalkers replaced by Moebian 51st.

Scab Only Elites/Specialists. Bosses replaced by Captains. Capsules are randomly rigged with explosives that detonate a short period after being opened, damage can be avoided by dodging backwards. Power Supply Interruption on Elite horde ambush, along with music cue:

Captains:

Captains now have two phases, phases are indicated by the two wounds their healthbars have. Captains have different behaviors in each phase.

Phase 1: Tactical, prefers ranged combat. Periodically calls in reinforcements (same style as Vox Operator below). Breaking Void Shield staggers Captains, but stagger duration is much shorter. Void Shield regenerates if Captains are ignored for too long during this phase.

Phase 2: Captains become enraged and switch to melee. They gain increased attack speed, are immune to crowd control, and gain increased damage. Captains cannot call for reinforcements while enraged.

Traitor Sergeant:

Elite
Armor Type: Carapace Chest, Unarmored Head/Body
Weapons: Bolt Pistol, Mk V Dueling Sword
Rally: Periodically threatens nearby allies, ranged allies are immune to suppression and have increased fire rate during this period.
Behavior: Prefers to shoot from cover, unless Rally is active. Will use melee if players get too close.

Vox Operator:

Elite
Armor Type: Unarmored Head/Flak Body
Weapons: Kantrael Mk X Heavy Laspistol
Reinforcements: Periodically drops a smoke grenade at his feet, calls in two Snipers, four Shooters, and two Gunners. Ranged units will target players through the smoke cloud.
Behavior: Prefers cover, will kick if players get too close.

Great ideas! Just one issue:

Traitor Commissars are more suited to being “Lord” Enemies, like Scab Captains and Cult Champions.

The standard Astra Militarum Regiment has only a SINGULAR Commissar assigned to them, and the Moebian 6th aren’t on the same level as Cadian Shock Troops. Let’s give the Moebians a pass and say that they’re considered an “Elite” Regiment, they’ll have a similar number of Commissars assigned to them as they have Captains.

But that’s not a major hurdle. Squad Leaders (a role occupied by Sergeants and/or Corporals, depending on the Regiment) are known to exist in the Moebian 6th. Squad Leaders would be both fitting and numerous enough to fulfil such a role whilst also being an Elite.

Ah that’s a detail I missed, thanks. That’s right, Commissars are more of a prestigious rank right, political in nature at times?

A Commissar could make for an interesting boss in the future though.

Yes and they also tend to get the best gear, have more training than most soldiers and taught to think independently. Technically there are junior commissars in the lore but it’s not often explored.

That is debatable. Commissar have various ranks,

And “normal” commissar can be present in more numbers than just 1 (which imo make more sense)

Everybody waiting for FS to port the seasonal and Havoc modifiers to the normal mission board:

(I’m very sick of Hi-Int STG in Auric)

This is true, the lexicanum states Commissars start as Juniors, then Captain, Lord, and General as they advance further. Either way - be it Commissars or Sergeants, adding a command Elite that functions as an AOE boon to nearby ranged alllies would create difficulty spikes throughout missions that would make gameplay more interesting.

Rather than Gunner/Shooter groups just being enemies that can be suppressed into oblivion or heavily mitigated with slide-dodge into melee frenzy, with the command Elite archetype in play players may have to slow down, reposition, act more tactically.

As am I, Auric needs more modifier rotation.
