I’m not used to this live service mmo/mobile approach of wasting player’s time, I hate it and all games that are using it. It’s insanely irritating. I should be in a complete, total control of my game at all times. Able to select whatever mission I want on whichever difficulty I want and with whichever Deed modifier I want. The fact that I’m forced to play a mission I already played because there is nothing else on a difficulty level I like to play is so stupidly soulcrushing. It’s actively draining my entire enjoyment from the game. I can’t even play on a fun Darkness modifier anymore just because. I’m supposed to log into the game at the right time to gain access to different parts of it, as if it was supposed to be a job, instead of an entertainment.
THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG with normal map and difficulty selection. It didn’t cause any problems whatsoever. Ever.
This same applies to RNG refreshing shop and those weekly quests and grindy crafting. Such a fun core gameplay, combat, amazing music and atmosphere covered in an annoying grind and progression system. I know of course that all of those repulsive gacha mechanics exist because Fatshark and T*ncent want to artificially bind players to the game, but that’s exactly, explicitly what I despise.
This entire progression system and live service map selection with “events” are actively making this game awful and tedious and as such overwriting all other positive aspects. I’m changing my review to negative until this is fixed (completely reworked) because this is actively hampering my entire enjoyment from this game and making it downright awful to experience.
It’s an extremely common complaint, and one can only hope that whatever daemon possessed the devs and coerced them into inflicting this ridiculous time-wasting system on the playerbase has since returned to the Warp and the problem can be corrected.
My only guess is that the lower number of available missions increases the chances to find a group, but that was rarely a problem though.
I don’t really care for the missions tbh. I just pick one that suits me, but yeah, if you need grims for your weekly and no grim mission on your preferred difficulty is available then that sucks, and don’t get me started on the store that hasn’t sold me a heavy stubber in ages.
Guys, it’s a GaaS. The randomicity is meant to act as a time gate to have people develop FOMO and keep coming back at it every day for just enough to play one map, check the shop and get the f*** out as they anyway occupy resources on the servers.
It’s not like they didn’t know this design was causing this. It’s a deliberate choice.
I think it’d be better if there were more missions available per difficulty. Quickplaying into the same mission 4 times in a row, every time I load the game up gets old pretty quick.
Agreed. I had to re-roll a weekly mission twice to get something that I could actually complete, since the missions it suggested were not in rotation. I hope we are going to get a mission selector like in VT2 for those of us who like more control over what mission to play.
Additional modifiers, while fun, should also be something that I think you should be able to select as well. My friend group is too inexperienced for lvl 4, so I’d like to get at least some challenge on the lower level difficulties by increasing hordes and making it dark and stuff. Now that would be fun.
