Meta shower thought, all auras should stack, but with diminishing returns

I shouldn’t join into a game and think “oh damn, we both have kinetic presence, well that’s worthless” or “damn this guy has seers presence, I need to change my build”

all of the auras should stack, but the value should be diminished for every player that has it.

It doesn’t even have to be a huge amount, just make it 33% value, diminished by half for every player with the aura.

anything is better than zero, really.

Yoooo quad survivalist

We can go back to pre nerf where we had infinite ammo

Even with that bringing it from 1% to say 1.5% or 1.66% max, the limit on how often it can proc ammo gains would stop that from happening. The days of infinity are gone ]=

Trying to think why this would be a bad idea… . :man_shrugging:
Nah can’t think any right now so yeah why not.

This has been suggested since the beta. It had my vote then and still does. :+1:

This is my main concern here too.

Darktide has soo many variables that stacking them even a little would likely reach new and potentially broken breakpoints on some builds. Especially in premades where people could organize for that. Sure like you said they could just make the stacked buffs so small it couldn’t possibly make that much of a difference, but then why bother doing it at all? Rather than just spend the dev time on something else that actually mattered.

Further, the fact that they don’t stack contributes - however little - to variation and experimentation. Right now there’s a reason to avoid meta auras, if they stacked it would be the opposite. Tho honestly I don’t think this would matter much, since you almost always prioritize the talent paths rather than the auras anyway.

But if it really is a big deal to ppl that auras don’t stack and the fact that you carry yours with you even out of coherency as a constant isn’t enough, then how about a compromise? Instead of stacking the auras themselves, what if duplicates added some general buff? This would be much easier for them to control and account for, and would achieve a similar result.

I don’t think there is a lot of people that thinks in such a manner. Auras today, give quite measly buff, almost never game changing. It’s not worth it to change your build, solely baded on aura duplication.

Yeah, nowadays it’s not really critical anymore, even Survivalist.
But a functional aura stacking mechanic wouldn’t be unwelcome…

As said in this thread, it would break a lot of things. And the incoming patch, if let like that, will be a disaster for the balance and the game difficulty.
No need to add such thing. We will already have a giant power boost… and something that is a game breaker. Difficulty will be reduced to dust with the incoming patch…
No need to add fuel to the fire.

Not really, I don’t think it matters at all
(also, I like to think: “should I change my build or not?”, it’s a pretty good dilemma)
Also, Auras do stack.

Like this, they increase the area of Aura activation:
dasdd

Unless two players are kissing :flushed:
(btw, that is a joke, it’s kinda funny)

There’s not a lot to talk about, unless people want to imagine 4 Survivalists, 4 Seer’s Presence,
4 Prescience or 4 Benediction.

But that’s silly, it would be like arguing about which Robot Killer is stronger, just imaginary numbers and hypotheticals.

BTW, mine is the bestest, he’s super cool and made of Invincibilium and like infinite strength with lasers and nukes

Sorry, I actually don’t have an opinion on that :pensive: I just have never had that thought, just a minor inconvenience

I do, I try to swap over auras if another person has it. what’s better than ammo regen? ammo regen + 5% more damage for the team.

Does the 5% more damage really matter though? Like, the 5% difference is not going to save a run. At most the only difference it’ll make is killing a monstrosity 3-ish seconds faster.
And if your team was 3 seconds away from being wiped, then the 5% damage is hardly the problem here.

Lets say they did add the stacking like you said in a diminishing way.
2.5% damage wouldnt make any difference whatsoever. Hardly worth taking the time to implement it since noone would actually notice it. Both melee and ranged weapons would still take the same amount of hits to kill every mob.

There’s a concept known as breakpoints. The threshhold where you go from requiring 2 hits to kill a mob versus one hit. So yes, things like the psyker aura that grants damage to elites would potentially allow you one shots on elites that you were previously not able to achieve. those little percentages add up.

I’ve played around with alot of weapons in the meat grinder as i play 3 different classes and love to experiment. And i’ve never been in a situation where any weapon was 1 sliver away from killing the mob in whatever amount of hits.
around 8-10% damage? yea sure, 2.5%? not at all.

That sound quite strange.

A number of weapons have very precise break points with +damage “against armor type” modifiers. +5% can allow you hit similar breakpoints with a non-perfect damage roll and such.

You mean weapon perks? +25% damage and +2.5% is a pretty big difference isnt it? Or vet’s +15-20% vs elite/ogryn

Go to the meatgrinder and try to find a weapon where its 2.5% away from killing a mob. Torrent rate of fire weapons dont count.
If you actually do find one, i’ll do a dogeza and admit you guys are right.
Oh, and no trying to mess around with weapon power, 65-80% only.

Okay let’s try a simple one. Plasma (80% damage) does 933 damage against a shotgunner with a headshot, 980 with a +5% ranged perk and can 1 shot with +10%.

If you pick the aura you can skip one of the +5% ranged attack perks.

That 20 extra damage is pretty close to that 2.5%.

This would also mean (but I can’t test it right now) that a Psyker with 7.5% damage against elite would allow a plasma player to oneshot a shotgunner with a headshot without any additional damage from a talent tree or perks. In this case the fact that it’s 7.5% damage and not 5% would matter. Pretty cool, huh?

hmpf… Fine, you win this round.

I don’t know how up to date it is, but there are breakpoint calculators out there for this

Side story: Joined a lobby where a vet told us 2 ogryns one of us should change aura because we both had Bonebreaker, wich would change build entirely.
The Kicker: My man had VoC (shout) with revives but no overshield (yellow tuff).
