Maybe we don’t have it so bad

I feel really bad for Eravin. I’m glad that he’s moving on from Helldivers 2. Arrowhead strung him along for A YEAR AND A HALF regarding his inclusion in the Creator Program and then unfairly reprimanded him for being mildly frustrated with them about it. This is a new low, like, they’re just being unprofessionally petty at this point…

Hey, at least fatshark ignores us all equally
(Cuz after some thinking, I refuse to believe that there genuine human beings with a soul, that tell FS ,that dueling sword and rending strike working on dots is fine)

Meanwhile arrowhead deepthroats glazedivers and their opinions, so we are once againt at the point where we need another 60day patch.

And iam not even talking about performance issue or possible HW bricking

Thanks for your answers Khorne and Enclave. I have watched the entirety of Eravin’s video now and I have to say it left me furious. It is showcasing the most despicable and childish behaviour from a game dev. Honestly, that video has left me so shocked by the attitude shown by Arrowhead officials that I am going to hit the breaks on Helldivers 2 for now. I care about games, and I care much about game developers - that being that if they show disrespectful behaviour or alike, my inner moral compass is not giving me a good feeling playing their game.

Exactly. Equal ignoring here. But Arrowhead’s attitude is absolutely despicable.

Thank you guys for enlightening me. This has by all means changed my perspective on Helldivers 2 and Arrowhead. Honestly extremely disappointing…

is there any actual evidence of helldivers 2 bricking PCs or is it just content creators pretending they arent tech illiterates and shouting accusations?

like actual data? tests? analysis? or just “my cpu died so it must’ve been helldivers”

Nope. Not a shred.

Far more likely these people intentionally overloaded the system followed by turning on a high-resource game like HD2 to burn something out. Then blame the devs who knowing better don’t take the persons claims seriously, and thus one has the rage-bait view machine.

People need to stop treating everything they see and hear as truth just because someone has X-number of followers.

It’s funny, that. Because AH is doing plenty to tank themselves that making shite up like this isn’t needed.

Good lesson not to tie your livelihood to any one IP-entity. Dude seems like he has hustle so he’ll be OK. What a complete joke of a PR team though!

at least the gameplay is always consistent and fair. not like saber dropping chaos spawns into space marine 2. our brief periods of overtuned gas and plasma gunners are nothing compared to the round enders of 12 chaos spawns warping in, while fighting another 10 and dealing with rubric marines.

This game gives players Grief, What stage is this OP in?

Darktide as a game is getting better, but currently the server instability is unacceptable.

Is Arrowhead one of those that hired community managers more interested in their own political preferences than the stability and wellbeing of the game? We’ve seen no shortage of those in the past few years after all.

For me, it always feels so awkward reading people’s messages complaining about server instability in DT because I literally have zero issues with the servers. The same goes for HD2 too so I guess the stars must have aligned when it comes to my PC or something, I don’t know. I’m no tech expert.

Lucky, or could be server region. US East was stable today but I’ve had some baaad disconnects in the past few months.

Yeah, me too. I 100% believe people are having issues, but myself and the group I play with haven’t had any issues for quite some time.

It sounds weird but I wish I was having issues so I could help figure them out.

That is the downside of PC gaming, is that software developers have to test it on myriads of different architecture and sometimes there’s just not enough dev time to allocate to that.

Ok no

All we have are consistent reports of the game hard freezing computers.

And 2 of their partnered content creators had components cease working afterwards

One having their new cpu break and another having their ssd break.

Mainly it’s attributed to the anti cheat ‘game guard

So it’s just empirical evidence right now, but I’ve never seen major content creators for a game have pc parts specifically break while playing a game they’re partnered to play it’s a incredibly worrying look.

A game cannot cause a system to lockup. That’s just not possible, games do not have access to do so. It could trigger an underlying hardware issue, or underlying driver issue, but no game can lockup a computer they jut don’t have access to do so.

(unless you’re running it as root and if you are you get what you get, or you’re running something like windows 95…)

That said, an anti cheat that runs as root could totally hard lock a computer, but I find it hard to believe it would actually damage a CPU, SSD, or any other hardware for that manner. Someone malicious with root access could conceivably cause damage to some hardware, but I can’t imagine actually damage being possible without malicious intent.

Been a while since I put my A+ hat on, but that sounds about right. An anti-cheat at best uses Secure Boot to prevent other software from booting- but since it is mucking about in firmware there are theoretically ways it can brick a system.

Happy to be shown I’m wrong here because that would be a good thing to know.

Hell, the CPU and SSD errors could also be attributed to Intel and Phison. Raptor Lake CPUs implode themselves due to a physical defect and Phison shipped a bunch of SSD with engineering preview firmware that had problems with a W11 24H2 update.

sounds like a nothingburger so long as there’s not actually any real proof or explanation of the mechanism via which it’s supposedly bricking hardware

my old gpu and new cpu died playing darktide but i’d have to be an absolute tech illiterate to attribute either of that to darktide. the former was just old as sin, the latter had a one in a million incompability with my motherboard. both bricked with darktide running, sounds statistically relevant but absolutely unrelated

PC tech isn’t actually unexplored you can actually find out what kileld your hardware very precisely. if someone claims helldivers bricked their hardware without proof or analytics to back it up he’s either a smoothbrain (content creators) or maliciously lying (people trying to get in on the hate train, “happened to me too!” comemnts on reddit)
