They’d have needed such feedback.
Here you can finally see the hubris of “community driven content” in action. Same problem as democratic approach in general. If a general consensus or popular opinion has made it’s round, it will be enacted - Even if it is inaccurate, disadvantageous or factually incorrect.
Let’s be honest here, it’s not that bad. I still see plenty of ammo pickups everywhere. I don’t even think the ammo drop rate changed at all.
The reason we see less ammo for Vets now is that more Ogryns and Zealots are starting to enjoy their ranged options again with the new builds.
So what was previously Vet’s ammo stash has now been shared by a multiple of players. And maybe having barely enough ammo to scrape by was the intended design in the first place.
Not my experience at all. I had more fun with Vet than before.
All of them have the same curios as the Commissar. Before I ran full toughness curios but in the end my toughness was ~160 instead of ~100-125, so I removed them.
Sometimes I change up my weapons depending on my mood.
I feel it’s not, cause charged shots doesn’t consume stamina, (plus Deadshot reduces sway, so by altrnative fire it rly means ads). And just from some shooting in psykanium there rare crits on charged shots.
Instead of Ghost better take either Headhunter if you can land headshots like Shroud, or Surgical. ( Crucian Roulette maybe, but i’m not so familiar with autoguns builds)
Stack some stamina regen speed and sprint efficiency on curios if you are using Deadshot.
I know about the blessings. They are going to stay until I don’t find better items or Fatshark remove the locks so I won’t brick a 370+ rating item with correct % distribution.
I can’t help it. Their RNG system provided these for me. For example, I have never encountered bloodletter on chainsword. Well the RNG is RNG.
Veteran drew the short straw. He was overdone in the previous version of the game, or better said, was the easiest to play (I think well-played ogryn or zealot could clutch the games even better) but with the current power creep he’s feeling pretty weak, regardless of the build.
You can specc him into one-trick pony (f.e. headhunter autogun specced on crits&headshots can melt bosses, as long as are able to score headshots consistently) but he’s completely outhsined by other classes, especially psyker with his blue spark plugs.
His ammo economy went totally down the drain too, even if you save ammo for specials, you play half of the game as zealot after a stroke.
I’m not so sure about that one. Autopistol zealots and stubber ogryns as far as the eye can see pre-patch and they were never shy about playing ranged.
Want to know what the effect of that has been? Nobody shares ammo anymore. We’re playing Finders-Keepers rules now.
i just finished a game with a salvaged bolter / power sword build, i took 90% of ammo pickups in the map and finished with no ammo at all, did like 130k less damage than the psyker beside me doing all his things for free
i’ve got more than 1.5k hours in the game i’m far from a pushover when it comes to being good at the game of course i can’t complain about having a little challenge
i think the ammo nerf for the bolter and plasma gun is more than fair, those are supposed to be special ammunition anyways (its a shame that autoguns got caught in that aswell)
also the pinning fire nerf, that bless was just too stupid compared to the rest that would do nothing compared to that
the bad part is the reload skill removed for me, having a 25% damage buff for 5 seconds just sucks and the devs knew it when the game was released, having your weapon loaded when you use your ability is very much fair considering you could waste it completely by reloading when you are in a pinch and you need that extra reload
chaining up 30 bolter rounds was far from being op even when fighting bosses (wich is where i was doing that in the first place) but even if that was the ‘‘problem’’ for this community then i would suggest a fair compromise, a perk that would reload your weapon after a while when not using it, (like in deep rock galactic) that would solve the ‘‘chaining 30 bolter shots problem’’ and also would not completely waste your F in a 5 seconds reload
don’t even need to mention the ogryn got that reaload on F in this build and its not like his top guns are any weaker than the vet (even with charmed reaload blessing not working)
The thing is you need to play way much more melee with bolter now, means you need to swap a lot, but considering how bolter is slow to swap and reload, it’s both tedious and make you very vulnerable. And with plasma you need to manage overheat.
Imo, there should be some weapon-specific keystones, here is what my inner game designer thinks:
Heavy weapon specialist
having bolter or plasma in your loadout grants +x toughnes +y HP
Savage momentum
Bolter special attack deals x damage, killing enemy with special attack refill x% of ammo (basicaly kill poxwalkers with bolter melee to farm ammo). Or it can be that your melee weapon have a small chance to refill a bit of ammo on kill.
Stable batteries
+25% thermal resist. It’s only 15% chance you will explode when shoot with overheat
Scorched earth
Charged shots can create burning area on the ground (basically extra small fire nades)
Would be nice to have for revolver too
But overall i’ve got a feeling that bolter swap speed buff will be enough and solve the problem. Plasma needs some big buffs tho.
I prefer my run and gun laser melee build, but I’m not really seeing the problem with Executioner’s Stance
It lost terminator shields, which admittedly were cool and also OP, and auto reload, which makes Plasma a lot worse, but Plasma is actually fine
terminator shields also made Autopistol by far the best Veteran weapon if not for Crushers, and now it is still good and balanced because of the accuracy buffs from Executioner’s
Spec the refresh toughness on Elite and Special kill in the middle path. If your teammates are killing everything then up your game; plus, in that case you shouldn’t be complaining about survivability
Finally, it seems Vet is balanced around higher difficulty levels, so ironically, if you’re having trouble keeping up, play on a higher difficulty
I think rampage and a cleave blessing might be better overall for horde clear, which is what you want it for.
Shred is a solid pick but IDK about bloodletter…
Far too often, the heart of the argument which proponents of the Veteran nerfing use frequently seems to boil down to some iteration of “yes, but it’s not that bad and it’s still viable” (leaving aside satisfaction of use or how it impacts the sense of fun) and/or occasionally alongside “and besides, the reduction is more in line with my preferred sense of subjective balance”.
What it comes down to for me (and I’d wager more than a few others) however is that regardless of any positive alterations, this is still a reduction overall, especially when compared to what we had less than a week ago, and ESPECIALLY-especially when compared to the very visible positives displayed in and by the other 3 classes. Any benefits to be had from this new system practically need to be combed over with a magnifying glass in order to be found. And I’m sorry, but I just don’t think they can offset the negatives.
The positives, to the extent that they can be called such, are frankly, too few, too understated, too obscure, too subtle, too situational, and come off like they’re being written by a copyright lawyer relying on very particular technicalities to make their case.
Whereas the negatives as compared to the previous build, as well as the evolution and enhancements given to literally every other class are so noticeable that they can practically be seen from space.
I’d have been more happy to receive nothing while all the other classes got their new upgrades than what we ultimately ended up with.
Chainsword both has such good cleave and damage now that it doesn’t need any blessings probably, heavy shred oneshoting any human-sized elite and special (and light special almost any). Bleed basically allows you to kill reaper and bulwark with 1 heavy special and crusher with 2. A bit helpfull vs bosses too.
The guy tried out 2 of the 3 working weapon sets and thinks Vet is fine. Yeah, las, Helbore, and Recon are competitive and have 0 ammo issues. Big surprise with the Shock Trooper node and buffed surgical, guess no one else figured this out.
