Everytime I see a player with it I cringe. I know they’ll be downed 3 miles away from the group because they ran ahead and didn’t give a kark about this being a team game.
Frankly, they’ve got the right idea. Loner and by extension, the entire right side of the tree, excel at allowing you to engage ranged enemies in melee before your group has to make contact with them. The fact that they’re dying is just them learning the playstyle since it IS so radically different from the “”“intended”“” method
I think if you seriously examine Zealot’s forms of toughness sustain you’ll note that Loner doesn’t really factor as something that genuinely allows Zealot to play quasi solo. Ult spam and toughness on heavy kill eclipse its effect on sustain many times over. If I take Loner it’s because I’m forced to for point efficiency.
I think it’s less about efficiency. It’s more a statement of how you’ll be playing with the rest of your team for the map, which is that you won’t be.
tbh. in quickplay i just leave games with solo warriors. they always die and blame their team
“maybe stick together next time”
nah mate, legit skill issues all around for both the solo zealot and the 3 man that cant carry him
I don’t worry about what other players do at all.
i’m not here to carry tryhard shitters
then you arent here to improve
n im p sure that people who can actually carry others, wouldnt give a damn
lmao… it’s a PvE game, you don’t improve here, you chill
u better not be chilling in damnation+ then
if this game is a challenge then you probably do need to stay here to improve lol
woooahhh we got a master legend over here
u should be giving out tips or making vids man, wasted talent ngl
I’m upset that Fat Shark put Thy Wrath Be Swift over there, so I end up running it sometimes due to combined tax. The corruption node is way better with the dog buff, though (dogs do like 25HP corruption instantly for landing on you).
Thanks for telling me how I play I guess? No, as I explained before which you just completely ignored, if I’m taking loner it’s because I want the crit skills on the right, thy wrath be swift, as well as shroudfield, and have enough points to spare for valuable stuff at the bottom and top. That pretty much forces me to path through loner, it doesn’t mean I plan to play away from my team, beyond occasionally separating to assassinate key threats with shroudfield.
Seriously, go into meat grinder with creature spawner and test how much sustain you actually get from loner. It’s pretty negligible, you could remove it entirely and players that want to play solo will still do so, that aura is simply a non issue for encouraging that play style.
Loner has nothing to do with that. You are just talking about someone who is bad at playing assassin, it’s learning how to, or was just unlucky.
Loner is really not that useful…
And btw, there is nothing in the assassin role that says you need to be far away from your team.
I often can’t help but feel like people zealot wrong. It feels the common ideas about how zealot should be played aren’t in line with the design intent.
Like, Loner, to me, feels like it’s intended as a survival tool for when everyone else is dead. Not as an enabler for running off and trying to solo the map.
Likewise with the ‘+damage on lost wounds’ (I can’t remember what it’s called). To me that feels like the intent is to make it easier to survive as you get closer to death, not as a permanent damage boost.
The point of being a “Loner” Zealot is that you don’t actually NEED your teammates to engage the enemy with you unless there’s an UNGODLY number of Elites or the engagement involves a Monstrosity.
I found Loner to be kinda weak, being in stage 2 coherency doesn’t provide any meaningful bonuses.
At best you’re getting a very long timer before starting toughness regen + very slow toughness regen. Before it activates you can just catch up with your team.
Why do you keep tempting me with this?
I generally agree, especially on the Loner part. When pre-patch people kept saying that it would be a huge deal, it really left me scratching my head.
The coherency bonusses aren’t that good. To me the Loner talent is a wasted skillpoint you have to add so you can move on the talent tree.
As for Martyrdom, you can use it as a risk vs reward playstyle. But if you go down, it’s over.
