Lights Out hate/love, Night Gogles*, gadget progression

*Called Photo-Visor in the lore

  • Will let people play any gun/stuff they want

  • Works as a different gadget slot, has different tiers

  • New supply type - batteries, refill like ~25% of Visor’s charge, new crate - Charge pack (put lightning symbol on it, obvious), works the same way as ammo crate.

  • You can unlock it only after some ammount of completed missions on Lights Out mod, so gives additional level of progression

Tiers example:

10 Lights Out mission completed - Chemi lights as gadget, max ammount ~ 8, can refill them only from Charge pack. Can be done on any difficulty

25 Lights Out mission completed - to unlock Photo-VIsor. Can be done only on Malice-Damnation

50 Lights Out mission completed - to unlock Photo-Visor as cosmetics for regular runs (maybe as a working gadget, but i don’t know why you need this in a day time). Can be done only on Heresy-Damnation

100 Lights Out mission completed - Archeotech gogles for beloved darklurkers, there is enough charge in them for a whole run, don’t need batteries anymore, all picked up batteries counts as plasteel (dunno, 150 maybe?) or maybe even 1 Aquilla (will not happen). Can be done only on Damnation.

Liths Out probably need to be a more common condition for this ammount of completed missions.

Doesn’t make any sense why scabs use them, but Inquisition acolytes don’t

If that happen, i’d prefer for it to be a pick able (Like the Ammo and medpack) rather than something that people unlock after a while.

Yeah, I can see that. My idea comes from pessimistic view on Darktide GaaS model, it will not be changed probably (atleast i don’t believe), so there will be some grindy and player-enslaving mechanics anyway. Right now there are only beat 250 mission types for a frame, uh. So i think that having progression in a natural “just play the game” penance will work better both for game model and players if there will be some impact, that changes your game in some way. Tiers will help players to feel that every milestone is meaningfull and rewarding, but also not so tedious to grind, cause after every tier ther is a new tool. However if they will give us control over maps and conditions we want to play, that extra-resources part should not be there.
