KNOWN ISSUE: FSR4 Crashing

We’re currently investigating crashes related to FSR4.

If you encounter this crash, the crash reporter may show something like:

HRESULT: 0x887a0005 = DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
GetDeviceRemovedReason() = DXGI_ERROR_INVALID_CALL

Hello Fatshark Support,

I’m experiencing a recurring crash in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. The game randomly crashes to desktop and I receive the following engine error message:

I’m using an AMD GPU and I’ve already tried the following steps:

Clean driver removal via DDU and reinstallation (minimal driver only)

Disabled Radeon features like Anti-Lag, Chill, Boost, ReLive, etc.

Deleted shader cache and Darktide config folders

Disabled portrait rendering in the launcher

Lowered worker threads to 1

Verified game files

Either if I have it on before launch, or turn it on in game. As soon as I activate FSR 3.1 the game crashes either after the Inquisitoral Clearance Screen or the moment I Apply FSR ingame.

Edit:
If I disable FSR 4 in the drivers, and start the game with no FSR, I can then activate FSR 3 ingame without crashing and consistently restart it with FSR 3, as long as 4 is not activated.

They killed FSR4. Turn in off.

That was my first suspision aswell, but sadly it also happens when I deactivate FSR4 in the drivers.

New discovery… If I’m ingame and go step by step from off to performance and all the way up to quality… it does work, if I keep FSR 4 disabled.

So it actually is FSR 4

FSR3 Crashes on launch after 1.8.3. The game runs fine with FSR3 turned off. The game crashes the instant you turn it on.

Never mind, they killed FSR4. Nice one!

Sorry to hear this - we’re looking in to it.

For anybody that may not have seen the comments above, the current workaround whilst we look in to this is to disable FSR4 in the driver. You can isolate this so that it’s only disabled for Darktide.

After disabling FSR 4 in Radeon software the game launches and plays fine. now I’m seeing the difference between FSR3.1 and FSR4 and its massive. FSR4 is so much better looking than 3.1 like wow.

Ah, Fatshark, you’ve got to be the worst developer around, do you even test things before you go to production?

FSR4 was working fine prior to this latest patch, but as per usual, Fatshark breaks working features with every update.

Same issue here. I was able to just drag and drop the newest fidelityfx dll into the game files before this update and it just worked so something else changed internally thats causing this

Verified by downloading the last FFX dll with FSR 3.1.3 and I still crashed

Running into this a lot as well. Whatever is happening, it is getting worse at an alarming rate. Went from having no lag, to a little lag, to someone or everyone crashing every other game.

Until a fix is found, the game is borderline unplayable for a good chunk of people.

They’re telling you to disable FSR4. The game looks like crap without it.
