Just played the new spaceship mission in Space Marine 2

absolutely brutal. A derelict Imperial battleship, completely consumed by Tyranid bio-mass. Claustrophobic combat zones littered with corpses, crawling xenoforms, and organic infestation, culminating in two monstrous Tyranid bosses. When will Darktide get its own ship—like that ghost transport lost in the Warp I’ve been proposing? Injecting Vermintide 2’s Chaos Wastes-style progression into that derelict would be pure, unhinged glory.

Never? Darktide is all about fighting in underhive.

I’ve crafted a background story for Darktide’s derelict ship expedition:

The Arbites’ intervention in Atoma Prime’s affairs has severely strained relations between the local nobility and the Inquisition. Enforcement of the Imperial tithe has inflicted heavy losses upon the aristocrats, prompting some houses to cease cooperation with the Inquisitorial forces. Consequently, the Mourningstar has been left critically undersupplied.

Amid this crisis, a transport vessel tears through a Warp storm and emerges above Atoma Prime. Despite the Mourningstar’s repeated hails, the ship remains ominously silent. Captain Brahms authorizes a strike team to board the derelict and secure its resources. But within the lightless corridors stir hordes of Tyranid aberrations and Genestealer hybrids—this will be a blood-drenched struggle from the start.

In the prologue mission.


Having Chaos Waste be set inside a ship would quite limit the set pieces, less so than having it in the 2nd Hive.

If you walk at the hub’s main widnow, you can see several planets from there.

So you easely can find a reason to run jungle or icy crystal caves map on Atoma’s moon.

In fact all those things being somwhere in the underhive is somewhat lore accurate.

Jungles could happen in ties with the Stimm production, Stimm are often flora chemical components.

Having a Biodome sector that is a lush but dangerous forest/greenhouse, with the Dreg trying to infect/corrupt plants for their own uses.

Basicaly. And if you still need some ammount of your typical steel grey corridors and not just pure wilderness then put “abandoned biologis lab/gang plantation/aristocracy pleasure garden”

Or surely some sort of fungi forest could work? Or caves with crazy alien bioluminescent flora etc.

It’s literally an alien planet so things could get really weird there.

Having said that I’d love to see some missions on an orbiting space hulk.

It could be like Event Horizon and chaos have brought it from the warp pr something :laughing:

my biggest wish for a mission would be one set in an big ass forest inside atoma.

Maybe one of the nobles had a garden jungle built in a giant greenhouse and we could go in there to stop the admonition from making nurgleplant juice i dunno

The wing primes look absolutely awesome to fight against I cannot wait until this weekend!

gotta say I’m a little disappointed following the spoiler pre-amble of what that map was theorized to be (SM2 is a rich tapestry for schizoid theory crafting on what Saber may or may not do) which was an actual Tyranid hiveship but this is pretty cool too. it reminds me of that GFS Valhalla in Metroid Prime 3 only instead of being just a spooky graveyard stuff is still very much afoot here. gonna have to play a couple rounds since it promises no annoying chaos spawns

I asked for the same thing a year ago but the post never gained any traction, Im down! Ragnar’s 3rd or 4th book the opening chapter are them fighting in a hive city in a forest/valley which I would love darktide to add into the game. They have all the assets with V2 forest missions and a lot of green goo from nurgle so it should be a slap chop.

Aaaah the GFS Valhalla ! It haunted my dreams when i was a kid. I wish Fatshark will do the same with the Tancred Bastion for example and do some low gravity section in the process, that would be great !
