Xbox players are better than Steam players and it’s not close. Anyone still playing on Gamespass at this point is a top 10% player usually.
I’d say for those who really hammered away and survived Aurics on a Controller (like I have) and also knowing some xb game pass players that use MnK have capably matched if not exceeded the level of Steam players. I feel like skills are developed over time.
LOL okay to both of you…
@FatsharkStrawHat
I know I’m a bit late to the party here and I’m sure someone will have brought this up but I’ll simply have to add to this.
Is whomever in charge of this rework aware that this is not desireable? Is it intentional that we are not getting rid off all layers of RNG here?
I ask because the way it looks from my end here (Someone with 1200 hours in DT and a vastly larger RNG tollerance than most people) is that someone is deeply afraid of letting the players fully decide on what their equipment is supposed to be. As if someone thinks that we play DT for the equipment and not the gameplay after nearly two years of feedback saying the opposite.
If that fear exists, it’d have to be justified by data and then I’d honestly love to see that data so I can eat my words and forever shut up about this. I really don’t want to be able to bring this up anymore.
I’ve already experienced 1200 hours worth of layerd casino itemization and I’ve been very recently reminded why I last stopped playing in Febuary(?) when I tried to get the right double barrel. Millions of resources later, I still do not have it. They took months to acquire and minutes to waste. Even if the only RNG factor would now be to find the right gun with the right spread of stats, that’s still going to feel terrible for someone whos seen plenty of that before. Just the Idea that I might have to grind dockets again so I could attempt to get the right gun is a massive interest-killer.
If this itemization rework hits and even a single aspect of it even reminds me (and by extention everyone else that stopped because of itemization) of the old casino ways, I’ll condider the update “a step in the right direction but a Fail non the less”. Which means that I’ll be more optimistic but It’d probably not get me back to playing again.
I guess I’m curiously waiting to see what they come up with, but I feel fairly confident that we will still be disappointed by whatever is kluged together to merge gaming and casino into a coop pve game, where it does not belong.
I still get the impression that casino/gacha/RNG will still play an unnecessary role in DT. Players have been clear for a very long time with very simple fixes. But someone in FS Management just won’t let that one armed bandit go.
Hopefully we get the next Dev blog about it soon and hopefully it includes all the balancing and blessing changes detailed in it
Fatshark really doesn’t want to address this, this point has been repeatedly raised, but it’s not something that’s gotten a direct answer. There’s been no vision or concept offered by Fatshark as to what part of their vision for the game RNG facilitates, or what purpose it serves with regarding itemization.
I suspect it’s a combination of a C-suite or lead Dev that has an RNG-fetish nobody in the office feels comfortable kink-shaming them for, and a bunch of existing RNG systems and mechanisms they’ve already put tons of effort into and don’t feel like abandoning for a simpler system for whatever reason.
It’s clear the RNG itemization was a massive own-goal as far as this game goes, but Fatshark seems unable to pull themselves away from it.
My fear exactly.
Which is why I’d like to see that stance justified with data.
That way we could stop having to bring this up again and again.
Because this strategy of simply not answering it while asking for feedback and implementing most of said feedback while specifically leaving one RNG aspect in, looks really dumb and childish.
I’d respect it a whole lot more if I was told that it’s beneficial to their business and statistics to leave it in and that’s why they wont fully budge rather than ignoring the topic. F*ck it, I’d even respect it more if the person responsible told me that they believe RNG is beneficial to us too on the long run. Even if I wouldn’t agree and thought that that take was dumb, at least it’s an answer.
I imagine they have/had hired a specialist designer in retention and “gambling” who has advised them on specific rules to use in order to get people addicted.
OC we know it’s not worked but they are probably sticking to their guns now that they have a smaller housekeeping sized team and can’t face the thought of engineering a new retention method.
Frankly, I’m glad I’ve kept couple of weapons with 80x4 (and one 80x3) stat distribution…
Now, all they need is to increase failing stat to 60.
And how would we know that it hasn’t?
A system like this is designed to hook whales. Even if 95% of people stop playing, the ones which remain are precisely the ones you’d wanna keep around.
Even if they’d have a much smaller team working on DT now, simply allowing for the distribution to be changed however you’d like, couldn’t be so difficult that that’s why they won’t do it.
It has to be because someone wont budge, no matter what.
Part 2 when?
Eta on the arrival of this itemization rework?
It’s time to put on a helmet so you can run into the wall. As long as the weapon base remains random and not completely correctable (80x4, 60) we can say that all this will have been a waste of time and it will take two more years to fix future bugs. Just let the actual system and remove the locks so you can work on actual bugs and content.
Any updates on when the next Dev blog comes out? The blessings/balance changes?
Heyo! We have some on the way, as well as the next Q&A for Itemization. We don’t have one planned for the blessings and balances yet. However, that’s an idea I’m going to take and run with for y’all.
I’m beginning to have sympathy for the guy. He’s defending a universally hated aspect of the game and he’s willing to die on that hill. That level of stubbornness and contempt for players is a rare gift.
You’re the best!!!
You guys really plan to not release it before october, do you? It’s astounding how little content and actual QoL stuff has dropped this year and since the game’s release. Will you at least release a new map, class/archetype or weapon (read: not simply a different mark) any time this year as well?
At this point it’s safe to assume that the only time worth loging in are the few weeks after october. The reast of the year is basically a drought…
To make it clear, Itemization is not the only thing coming in this next update. And there will be an additional update before the end of this year with more content, as well.
As soon as I am able to talk about it more, I promise I’ll share more.
