this is a question that i was curious about since i have my fun playing melee psyker and all but i will say that i am curious with the new seemingly defense orientated psyker class from that one new classes leak that came out a little while ago if there is some sort of ‘weapon’ or tool more like in lore that could be used to give the psyker perhaps a psychic barrier generator for themselves and their teammates that maybe acts as yet another health buffer but perhaps scaling based on the own persons toughness curious. i just kinda would love something that i could use other than having to be a soul blaze psyker swapping back to the purgatus to puff out some fire blasts before getting to go back to melee psykering it up ya know and was curious if the lore maybe supported that idea.

Telekinesis has Telekine Dome, which is basically a bubble shield. Otherwise Divination has quite a few defensive techniques
for a zealot sub class maybe an rosarius might be also kinda in line of the playstyle so i tought i mention it.
A Rosarius is an amulet that incorporates a powerful conversion field generator to defend the wearer from attack. A rare and highly prized piece of technology, it is also an icon of the Imperial Creed, and entrusted only to the highest officials of the Ecclesiarchy
Unless they later want to make a SoB archetype, they could also give the Zealot an ability set around the Act/Shield of Faith from the SoB.
Otherwise if we get the Admech archetype, a class having some Archeotech and getting a Hyper-deceleration Field could work
huh thats cool but i meant more like a weapon that would take the slot of your primary weapon to give you a big passive coherency group buff as well as a self buff especially since as i mentioned, that one leak about new classes made it seem like the new psyker class already perhaps might be a tanky and maybe even melee variant of the psyker focusing on psychokinetic shields. beyond that mainly i just want the excuse to use just a sword but still feel like im doing my part to help the team XD
the force swords are just so fun to use especial with kintetic shielding…
In lore and especially on table top, Force Staffs are meant to be able to be used very effectively as melee weapons, not just ranged weapons. While I was very disappointed that the Force Staffs currently in the game have awful melee, I think something you’re looking for could easily be made into a Force Staff melee weapon, where maybe you could give players around you some sort of buff with the special action for peril cost. Overshield, toughness regen, damage reduction, etc there’s lots that could be done.
Well the force staves aren’t related to any powers there more like a focus, an object that helps you direct your powers, the game ties powers to specific staves because game convenience
theoretically they could slap any power on pretty much any weapon, both melee and ranged and it wouldn’t really go against lore.
i would love a staff that works akin to, the scene were saruman fights the ringwraiths, in the hobbit movie.
That would be my preferred psyker in game!
Instead of brainburst take over a gunner who then attacks his mates for a short period.
Or summoning Cherubael for a hight cost 
Babarisater and his Runestaff would also be nice

Would make more sense as a Blitz/Ability and Iconic for a new Psyker class, kinda like how the Warrior Priest in VT2
- Summoning a DH is already very difficult and highly suspiscious, Eisenhorn was nearly a heretic for doing it, we would get executed outright for it.
- You mean Force Sword and Staff as a weapon kit ? Could work, though I don’t really see the need to have them paired

Not every Inquisitor is a psyker on their own.
Using an Acolyte sure, but we’re not any where close to that trusted
As an Inquisitor does whatever they see fit to protect the Imperium there is hardly anything which can be ruled out at both ends of the radical-puritan-scale.
And tbh: there is no indication wether Grendyl is a radical, puritan or even excomuncatio traitoris or heretikus extremis.
Everything os on the table, so everythin is in the pot up to now.
And one lesson taught by Eisenhorn’s life is, contact with the heretical powery lead allways down the path to radicalism and in the very end damnation.
