Cata punishes you for relying on the gun-go-brr. He is quite clunky to use, but not utterly awful.
You can stop causing team damage by taking your finger off the trigger.
In fact, hordes should probably be used to top up your thp in melee.
I think he might need a little tweak, but same could be said of pyro, huntsman, handmaiden, zealot - all for various reasons. Engineer doesnt need ‘fixing’.
Frost I’m really not going to go through your post because it’s a complete and utter waste of my time. It just baffles me that gamers boast about their skill in PVE games on the internet and think anybody cares to hear it. I have spent like 5 minutes on this forum in the last week and you’re quoting every single hyperbolic statement and analyzing it rather than looking at the bigger picture (that engineer is the worst class in the game which you already admitted was the case).

I mean if your point is that I’m bad because you have thousands of hours and can true solo cataclysm with engineer then you already lost that argument because that’s a horrible metric of balance. There will always be some virgin willing to throw their entire life away to speedrun games even with the worst character in the game.
At the end of the day I can solo cataclysm with bots on engineer and I couldn’t care less if they fix it at this pointbecause I doubt I’ll ever bother playing with players again anyway. I quit playing competitive games because I was sick of toxic gamers and their ego, but apparently even in easy baby PVE games people still feel the need to tell people how great they are. Now I understand why there are “highly skilled” grail knights furiously mashing left click on the frontline every quickmatch I try to play.

As for me not looking at the bigger picture, had you actually bothered to read anything i wrote and think about it you´d have noticed my choice of words when i noted my view of engineer.
I dare say i was pretty clear in that, yes, i do believe engi to be the weakest relatively, but not so much so that he is weak relative to the game itself. Even the highest official difficulty of it is not a problem. But you dont actually seem to read most of anything contrary to your views and you disregard any arguments against them too, no matter the logic. While also happily throwing down flamebaiting insults left and right.

I was not the one who brought up the true solo vid so i do not see the reason why you seem to attribute this to me. What i did indeed do however was take note of the fact that you stated you seem to have gotten quite a bit of backlash from shooting your teammates and that you…seemed to be offended by this? Which struck me as baffling really, and i did indeed state that based on my long-time player experience that shooting teammates has always been viewed as a douche move.
I felt the need to state this because you somehow seem unwilling or even unable to understand this, despite having actually gotten kicked and i presume, flamed for it, repeatedly.

I am just about choking on the irony here, you complain about toxic player ego but you seem to treat your teammates like they are supposed to your flunkies playing around you as if you are a carry in a MOBA with 2 supports and a tank going with you. And you view it as perfectly natural that you are entitled to having all the fun while they of course should always make way for and sacrifice for you. While also throwing out blatant lies to support your suggestion for removing FF on the minigun since “No other ranged career skill does FF damage”.

You just have to reload and Crank too much for Cata and Cata modifiers. It becomes boring/frustrating. You sometimes end up stuck unable to reload or Crank.
Doesn’t mean he’s not good, just not enjoyable. You can 100% top damage, but it just feels like you’re in slow motion, stuck Cranking and reloading. The damage should be taken into account if changes are made to not make him too strong.
You also have no ammo regen/faster reload, with a lack of melee modifiers.
‘Gimmick over gameplay’ is the way I described it in my review.
Possible fixes:

As usual there’s one insane Talent on the bottom row, which makes others barely worth taking. In this case it’s Innovative Ammo Hoppers, and while the others deal good damage, the problem with OE is the amount of Cranking, which IAH partially addresses
No buffs for Axe users
Drakefires are slow and have low impact. (Hunter + Combined Arms works with them for lots of sustained damage, but they just feel low impact in general on him). The left click shooting with them feels bad on him and Ironbreaker
I actually don’t prefer ammo hoppers. I find firing at full speed right away allows me to effectively react to more immediate problems like a life leech. Other than that, I pretty much agree with everything else.
I played quite a lot Engi on different cata matches.
I would say that his biggest problem is the strong dependency on teammates due to virtually no skills boosting defense or movement, combined with the constant need to crank the gun, giving enemies a lot of openings. He can be pretty enjoyable class and packs nice punch, but requires good reflexes, excellent map knowledge and awareness, as you can be downed by random trash from the back in 2 hits.
He is fine on CW runs or normal campaign runs, but playing him on FoW, hardcore Twitch or weeklies is next to impossible.
Anyway, compared to other classes I would also rank him very low. I think that he is, along pyro and huntsman, one of the classes needing some final touch from the devs before the game will be shelved.
In generall it is true but cata with a more specials + more horde deed is really fun with his level 30 talent which makes that you dont consume your ult after killing a special xD.

I am active here because i love vermintide and i have very good experiences with the playerbase and i like to follow the development process and am interested in others opinion about the game? Vermintide is a hobby i really like. So sure when work isnt busy at the moment i am taking a look into the forum
