Idk what max diamantine is because that resource is irrelevant but Heresy maxes at 440 plasteel per game, Damnation is 805. As for Gifts item quality is blue-purple and rarely orange if books are collected on a condition higher than low intensity on Heresy. Damnation has mostly oranges with the odd purple, collecting books seems to influence the modifier roll here as well as blessing quality. I don’t notice books improving modifiers and blessings on the other difficulties.

If you don’t play Damnation at level 30, you’re missing out. Almost half the plasteel and vastly improved drops, to be precise.

I do play Damnation only, now that all my characters are level 30. I’m asking, 'cause sometimes maybe I want to relax with t4, but given what MarxistDictator mentioned, that picking books further increases loot quality, I’ll just stick to t5.
Once you have gotten used to Damnation+ (Hi-Intensity + Shock Trooper Gauntlet) ordinary Damnation will feel like the old Heresy to you.

AFAIK higher the difficulty level (including conditions) higher the quality of your imperial gift can be.
My anecdotal experience : t5 missions give better loot.
Often crap, given you most likely have gear >500 anyway in that tier, but it is at least more likely orange so you may be able to scrape a skill off it.
I often run a few t3/t4 to get through the weekly targets. Gear is pointless.
This plus grims have a heavy impact on at least blessing quality. HiD double grim gives loot with 2 t4 blessings pretty often.

Is there a source for books influencing gift specs? It’s not that I don’t believe what random people say on the internet, but Fatshark is Fatshark and unless they specifically say it I don’t believe it due to their ridiculously vague descriptions on literally everything.

If there is I don’t know about it. From experience both modifiers and taking both grims have a heavy impact on blessing quality. Taking scriptures on the other hand doesn’t seem to have a noticeable impact.

I just ran a high intensity with grims, got both out – received a purple 409 lasgun with a T2 blessing

Yeah. Theres no point in playing heresy if you’re good enough for damnation. People suck who play on heresy too, so you’re more likely to fail imo.

Heresy groups are also a bit meh
