Is the zealot still loyal?

He’s good with chain weapons specifically and he is the only class to have 3 instead of 2, he’s good with a flamer, he’s melee focused and he shouts “Blood for the god-emperor, skulls for the golden throne”, is the zealot still loyal or is the secretly a worshipper of khorne? Or does the inquisition want to have a word with me?

Ye are a follower of Khorne, zealot; and I a student of Tzeentch. Be at peace, Rannick doesn’t need to know and will not, for he is much too distracted with the vile stimulant dealer now in our midst.

Zealot is probably the most loyal to the god-emperor, out of the playable classes in Darktide. Faith is their shield, which is why they run around naked. The quote you are referring to is probably a play-on words from FS..

Zealot can be describe as part of The Imperial Cult. They definitely have gone insane with their belief/faith. A zealot spewing chants and reckonings involving skulls is a bit on the nose with Khorne but I wouldn’t be too concerned.

Although, one Cain novel does have sisters mind controlled by a chaos worshipper. *Spoilers* Once the chaos lord is defeated the sisters, who snapped out of the mind virus, all immediately take their lives as they come to realize, or finally be able to act, on their war crimes against the God-Emperor.

So nothing is set in stone but IMO the zealots in Darktide are not secret Khorne Worshippers.

The rejects unknowingly tapping into the power of one of the three other Gods, who are attempting to sway or influence them would provide an explanation for the impressive kill tallies they rack up, plus why they’re able to avoid the effects of the blight despite wading into infected areas ever five minutes and taking in lungful’s of toxgas.

Khorn gets benefits from all characters within game. Some dialogue of characters indicate that judge archetype is even bigger maniac during combat.

I would worry about suggesting that a member of the Frateris Militia worships Khorne.

That might sound… heretical.

“Blood for the Emperor, skulls for the Golden Throne” is what I usually refer to as a “joke”

Luv me Jod-Emprah always. Them heretics never stood a chance.

Many fall when Zeal overrides Faith, it’s why the Inquisition is always watching.

Much as in real life, the difference between two extremes is often…not as far as one would imagine. A Righteous “Burn the Heretic, Kill the Mutant, Purge the Unclean” may just give way to simpler and more Chaos-ey “Burn, Kill, Purge”.

Chaos corruption is insidious and subtle. The Zealots fiery faith while essentially incorruptible in the short term, is likely being subtly shifted by Khorne corruption. It’s only natural with anyone consistently involved in bloody combat, and it’s unlikely the zealot has much time for good internal reflection/good advice from something like a sister of battle.

This is essentially how even space marines fall to Khorne. (Or how any sort of chaos corruption works really just by different vectors). They are fanatically incorruptibly loyal, but you don’t need to be actively willingly joining chaos to suddenly realised you just hacked through a bunch of random civilians in your blood rage.

Though in this case the voice line is probably just a easter egg not meant to be taken completely seriously lol.

Although technically true, since Hestia is not a full kitted Sister, she is on the ship personally handing out Penances to those lacking in the faith department.

Partially true. I somehow doubt Hestia has much time for individual counseling considering how many people are on the Morningstar. Really Hestia would need to reign in the zealot a lot and get them to see that combat is a means to a end not anything to take joy in. Sorta like the enforcer psyker, who is clearly much more educated on managing the risks of the warp and chaos corruption.

Depends on the zealot in question, the agitator is filled with doubt and the fanatic is a alcoholic that qoutes khorne worshippers(as we all know) but the judge is probably pretty loyal though…but not as loyal as ogryn!:flexed_biceps:

Merely using chain weapons does not make one a Khorne worshipper. There are far more loyal Imperials proficient in the use of chain weapons than there are followers of Khorne.

Having a somewhat unorthodox interpretation of the Imperial Cult doesn’t either.
