Great, love that you removed the locks and listened.
Hey, we don’t really have the means to get desired curios, maybe give it a thought?
And I really love everything else I see, the system seems quite robust on paper! Thank you for the preview, IT MEANS A LOT, TRULY!
Does the exp curio affect weapon exp?
We will though with the locks removed. You can put whatever maximum tier stats you want on them.
With locks removed, all you need is a good base. Almost like with any weapon.
Curios with locks removed basically mean you’re only trying to get a good base which is typically losing a single percentage point of toughness or health compared to the theoretical max.
No.
There’s no way to purchace a specific curio (i.e. +stamina). With weapons you can at least pick what you want to buy at Brunt’s.
Please elaborate further on this. What does 'potential quality and stats" mean exactly. If possible use a real weapon with numbers as an example. Say I have a 374 base power duelling sword. Does mastery add a fixed +x power to that or is it a percent increase? Are there diminishing returns for weapons with already high base power?
Is ‘weapon potential’ a new stat? Is it tied to the base power level? If it is a new unrelated stat does that mean a 371 power weapon with a low weapon potential rating has less possible power increase than a say 342 power weapon that has a high weapon potential rating? Please give us examples with actual numbers to compare.
As it reads right now it sounds like an additional layer of RNG. Which would be horrible, given the already high RNG of acquiring a good base from brunt.
The way I understand this is that if my Mastery with a weapon family is below 550 and only at 500 as in your image, I can only raise a weapons stats to 500, like in your example, yes?
What happens to the weapons we own that are above that power level (my 543 duelling sword for example)? Will they be downgraded or are they simply unavailable to be leveled up?
So to a certain degree I’m going to lose all my god role weapons that I have? I don’t want a “head start”, as I just want to keep what I already have. You have way too many weapons in the game to be doing this imo. I have a god rolled version of every weapon in game, and I took time to specifically craft said weapons into what was needed for certain builds. I do not want to have to redo all of that. The crafting system is fine, but it just needs tweaks. Increase the stats to 100, remove the random nature/gambling/slot machine aspect of it all, remove the locked perks/attributes(I like that you guys are doing that), add red weapons, and fix the materials system for those who are not able to play as much/collect as much materials. That’s all you need to do. Basically just make it like Vermintide. A lot of what you guys are doing sounds like fluff, and/or unnecessary. I think the fact that we still haven’t gotten any new cosmetics for the non aquilas cosmetic shop is more worrying, the fact that we still only have 2 weapon colors/cosmetics for the non aquilas shop is more worrying, and the fact that fatshark thinks people are dumb and that they need color coded weapons to know what variant they are is more worrying(it looks ridiculous running around with a bright blue weapon).
no youll keep the weapons as is and the blessings you earned will be used to calculate your mastery with a weapon.
An absolutely dreadful system. Throw it out.
Mastery is absurd. Why do we have to play with a weapon family to ‘unlock’ it? What you’re saying is that every time a new weapon drops, we have grind with that weapon before we ever get to see if it’s even worth playing with, with maxed blessings and stats.
Don’t think I haven’t noticed that you are keeping the RNG. Each weapon is still totally RNG, and we have to play the lottery to try to find one with the maximum potential stats.
This is horrific, and you are keeping much of the RNG grind while sticking another grind on top of it. This new grind is even worse as it requires playing with a weapon family in order to actually unlock the blessings and higher stats.
The system is absolutely horrific. Throw it out.
Frankly I disagree. So far it sounds like there’s still a lot of unclear layers of RNG hidden in the way weapon potential works.
Worst case scenario this further increases the RNG lottery since you have to get both a good base roll from brunt + a high stat potential. This is secretly making it MUCH worse.
Please, please, please let us buy weapon mastery with gold. Without any way to level other weapons that you arent currently using this will force people to play with the same weapons, as switching means to use an rather underpowered weapon (you only have T1 or T2 blessings, low Mastery so you cannot enhance the weapon further).
With it costing gold you also theoratically level other weapons whenever you earn gold, ofc the fastest way to level should be actually using the weapon, but with gold you could give it a nice boost (like getting it to mastery 10 where it has “good enough” improvements to be viable)
Or making it so you can choose 5 weapons to side-level (which makes the mastery XP split between all weapons, and fully leveled weapons cant earn XP so it gives it to the rest, or if you just choose 1 weapon it gets all the XP if the main weapon is fully leveled). Making it so you can still focus on some weapons but arent forced to use an underpowered weapon in higher difficulties
yes. Yes. Yes.
YES!!!
This is exactly what I’ve been wanting to see!! This is what we’ve all been bugging you about!! Open communication about what’s going to come up in the mid-future!
I have no complaints about anything I see in this post about the upcoming system, and finally being able to have more control over the weapons I unlock and use will make testing new ideas a snap, and a lot more fun. Removing the locks is going to be universally praised, and will allow us to have full customizability - though there’ll still be the whole thing about getting a max-rolled base stat for a curio, unless we can also upgrade them.
Secrets of the Machine God was a pretty mediocre major update overall, but this is getting me excited for the future of Darktide. Well done to all!
It’s insinuated I’m still going to have to do something(ie. play with said weapon and/or mess around with new perks and such). “God roll” weapons means I don’t ever need to touch them again, as they are perfect as is. So as long as I don’t have to do anything, then sure do whatever you want with the crafting system fatshark.
Just need to take this one step further and remove random drops / brunt’s purchases. Should be able to spend gold at Brunt’s to buy base weapons with the exact stats weights you want to upgrade, with small variability in the final full upgraded product.
Otherwise I like the direction!
pretty much just play the weapon you wanna have higher tier blessings or perks with which is far better than hoping the hadron casino gives you what you want
Please phase out the slot machines Fat Shark ![]()
You need to elaborate on the conversion scheme from the current system to the new. I’ve put a lot of hours into engaging with the old system (and I won’t miss it when it’s gone). On day 1 of this system, am I going to be logging in to worse weapons than I have now?
Is a ‘head start’ tier 2 blessings and medium stats or is it (with reasonable confidence) enough to be on par with our current weapons?
If this had rolled out a year ago it wouldn’t be such an issue but it’s been a long time now and the thought of engaging with some new XP grind to have decent weapons again doesn’t excite me.
