Most people quick match into lobbies at all difficulties as it is, so further filtering is going to further limit players. It still doesn’t do very much to address underlying issues either.
I don’t know what Weaves was.
But is this new mode basically like Grim Dawn’s Crucible mode? ie you don’t traverse a level; you’re in a pit and have to fend off waves of enemies?
Or a bit like PoE end game where it’s a succession of short dungeon runs?
Either way, I have zero appetite for it. And I just don’t need the stress of having some arbitrary rank decay if I die, or if I’ve not engaged for a week. Sounds like an artificial retention mechanism.
I find it an odd choice for next development when there’s so much in the core game that could be polished.
This is implying that FS would listen or do anything after said beta.
Weaves was the DLC that almost killed Vermintide 2. It also had that infamous dev post by one of their lead designers basically telling the community that “FS knows better what we like”.
A terrible experience in every shape or form. From bugs, to segmenting off content, difficulty and the playerbase. Which is why everyone uses it negatively most of the time.
While I’m not looking super positively on Havoc mode atm, isn’t it still a lot better off than weaves (I quit playing VT 2 before the Weaves stuff)? Full maps, able to use weapons from main game, isn’t part of a paid dlc, doesn’t lock off a difficulty, etc.
And if it is normal maps with mostly existing modifiers it should hopefully not be too buggy (this is cope).
Flashlight ogryn weapon?
Yes.
Where is that from?
some shitty story
Odd promotional pic, veteran with a zealot weapon. Maybe the 53rd set for zealot is the 21st set vet got, but colored black. But that’s probably copium.
Perfectly sums up all the tumblr diary entries, that should have been in the game, that I’m not reading.
Also is anyone else disappointed that the first real content expansion we’re getting isn’t a chaos wastes-type of deal? I don’t understand how they came to the conclusion that weaves was the better concept to adapt. Especially after the feedback they’ve gotten with both modes in Vermintide 2.
Then again, interpreting Feedback isn’t FS’s strong suit it seems…
…
Silence! Don’t you dare jinx it!
I think the real world reason for that is because they’re still working on a PS5 port and putting together this Havoc system seems a lot lower effort than designing and balancing a chaos wastes equivalent. For starters, no new maps have to be made, and as for mechanics a lot can be recycled that already exist(ed) like the moebian 21st hordes.
You’re probably 100% on the money here.
And I hate it.
You do your name justice. Absolutely murdered the Design Intent.
Keeping people busy while PS5 players get 14k aquillas for free?
I’m amped for this, but curious if this will be an opening into big spending on one last min/max thing for our rejects. Would be nice to have something attain for those who have the resources. Those who don’t want the grind are players that don’t have 200k plasteel etc. and thats fine i guess?
Looking forward to seeing this in action and how players adapt.
10 stacks of tougness regen debuff will be rough for ogryns, or ability cooldown stacks.
Would be nice to see a lvl 40 Havoc player that isn’t a stealth build
It will probably be 25k this time, but this version will also cost 10 bucks (of your local currency) more because PS5.
Losing a rank because you had IRL obligations and couldn’t log on for a week is a truly heinous idea. Immediately saps any enthusiasm I could have for this game mode.
That issue aside I feel like this new mode will live or die off the quality of the negative modifiers and mutators. I can’t say I have full trust these will be designed in a way that is fun to interact with. If they’re well done that will probably guarantee on its own that this mode has an audience.
I do definitely applaud giving more difficulty options for people seeking them. Though I do still wish there was somewhere to go to get difficulty that isn’t primarily just elite/special spam.

Does PS have a version of GamePass? (I actually have no idea, haven’t had a console since my PS2, lol) If not, I expect it will sell very similarly to the Steam version. Xbox got the extra aquilas as incentive to actually purchase the game as it could otherwise simply be played for “free” (Gamepass subscription).
Yes, the inherently lopsided nature of that transaction pissed off a lot of folks but, hey, if the requirement to get that deal is to be a console player then I’d say they still got the raw end of it.
