Informal Poll: How does the game's difficulty feel to you right now?

that’s the reddit problem.
People don’t downvote cause this is bad behavior, rude or a bad post. They downvote everything that is like that + everything they dislike or disapprove.
Must admit I started to use less and less since they have forbidden third party apps. I can still use my old app, but I know that sooner or later I won’t be able to use it. And I refuse to use reddit with their app…
Like for twitter (X), I wait for something that would replace it better. For twitter, bluesky does the job, but it not still well-known, for reddit, I still don’t have any replacement.

Reddit is a troll hub. People downvote everything they don’t like or disagree. And I think it’s fair to say there are more bad players than really good ones so whatever they agree on is basically what noobs (in lack of a better word) think is good.

Yeah, discords aren’t much better either. I saw people in the DRG discord say that an overclock for the Garand that gives you full mobility while charging is the best… while ignoring the fact that you can just jump before starting a charge shot to preserve all your momentum anyways, making it moot.

Gamers are always going to be bad. If everyone simply played video games like I did, we wouldn’t have this problem, and I wouldn’t have a god complex either. : P

Anyone ever get the feeling that discord and reddit is saying the same thing about the official forums? Or do they even know this place exist in the first place?

Needs more cleaver action.

i used to …well… use the bull butcher III for the longest time, ironically the first weapon i got with 80% in every important category AND blessings+perks to my liking.

until i didn´t. something with the light attack pattern and lacking damage against armored enemies.

while the bully I lacked a bit of horde clearing back when i was heavily using it the rest was an almost one or two-hit smackfest (if already damaged, which happens quite often)

krourk IV has its moments, objectively better than the butcher III but something about it didn´t click with me.

fast forward to today, the karsolas is my go-to weapon which reminds me i need to upload a current loadout video.

The difference is I can actually trust most of the takes from Forumites. Darktide’s Discord and Subreddit are at their best when enjoyed exclusively for memes.

It and cleaver mk IV are the weapons I enjoy the most and have, at least what I feel, the best move sets.

Indeed.

kinda like comparing a generic mcdonalds drive through with your local pub.

sometimes you need the disgusting burger and fast
and sometimes it feels nice knowing the bloke that spits on your food

Everyone has bad opinions - some opinions just come from more skilled players. For instance, my bad opinion is that Zealots are, in fact, expected to frequently break away from the team and put pressure on ranged enemies.

That isn’t an inherently bad idea if you’re doing so as a genuine contribution to your team.

This is, in my opinion, the zealot role… when you have a “team”. When you don’t have a team, your role is to baby sit and so to try to make them survive 1 more minute.

i dont mind buffing enemies but BY THE GOD EMPEROR! first fix silent specials and the servers.

Well then, you’ll be happy to know your take on mindlessly carrying toxic dead weight on auric damnation and maelstroms is the more popular one on Reddit.

Who says irony is dead?

Can’t speak for Discord, but Reddit seems to be unaware of FS forums, I usually redirect them here for bugs and reports. For the rest, I’m happy with the “Reddit takes” staying there, we have a few here already and I’d like to keep that number low if only to preserve my own sanity, or what’s left.

I suppose that is fair. Just feel that new players could benefit alot from the official forums, since most of the ingame tutorials are just badly inadequate to prepare them for higher difficulties.

I would be more supportive of this idea if there was a proper “guides” section for the Darktide forums. @FatsharkJulia maybe you can help out? It’s kind of odd that VT2 has one but not DT, come to think of it…

vermintide guide section was added once the community produced enough meat to work with why waste time one “what if’s”

This game isn’t that hard, even at the hardest Maelstrom if you understand the fundamentals of how enemy mechanics work. To me, the problem is server quality has degraded over time (phantom hits, being trapped a full 2 seconds after a side dodge post sound) and AI intentionally exploits broken mechanics (literally silent hordes and armor waves that materialize out of thin air, poxbursters jumping 90 degrees out of doors instantly).

The game plainly isn’t fun anymore in several games because it’s just plain cheap. Challenge isn’t fun if it isn’t fair.

I wrote a general effective gameplay / skill development guide on steam over here:

Probably needs an update but it’s a good start I think for covering the basics of good play.

Good guide, I lightly disagree with some of the curio blessings but it offers a lot of great advice that’s near and dear to my heart. If you ever updated please add “pick talents that make sense and synergize” or something to that effect.
I die a little inside when I see revive shouts with no overshield or CDR talents and the like, it’s more common that you think.
