Been playing DT since Closed Beta Days.
As the game has been out now for close to two years a lot of changes and design changes have been made.
Most are positive and some debated.
This post is not to address those issue but more around weapon crafting and uses for the in game currency.
As we can now see the max stat values for each weapon and upgrade them via the mastery system (great step forward), I would like to propose we take a step further for those who love to grind those dockets.
I propose the following gets implemented for the Weapons Crafting.
Once you have fully mastered a weapon class and fully upgraded it to MAX tier (level 500):
Allow a new unlocked option with Hadron to allow the player to grind the weapons individual level stats to 100% SAINTLY TIER.
This should allow you to have a perfect 100% base for all weapon stats upon completion.
Yes it is punishing but will be fun to long term progress when playing with Pubs etc.
This can be accomplished by charging 500K dockets, 1000 Adamantine and 5000 plasteel per 1% increase to that selected weapon stat. (feedback welcome)
When using Ordos Ingots: 10K per stat point.
This will really add a use for the in game currency and scavenging of resources and add a long term sense of progression by allow dedicated players to get to Saintly tier weapons.
Also would not make much of a difference power creep wise but definitely give players who like to perfect their tools a goal to progress to. Easy win win situation for Fatshark and players.
As always your 2 cent sand feedback on this is appreciated
Obvious concerns with balance aside (because then they’ll probably have to adjust breakpoints around these new higher weapon stats), I think this is a good concept to start with, however it has the problem that everyone wants the shiniest cool thing… Including those casuals who work the 9-5’s. That’s an extremely high price for a 1% bump in stats, if we’re being honest, and that’s usually a massive turn off for people who are interested in the gear progression of the game, just to find out getting actual BiS is just another massive resource sink after spending however much time both leveling up the weapon, and getting a good roll on it in the first place (because we all totally love buying 30 weapons just to get the stat roll you actually want /s).
However, I agree that it shouldn’t be too easy to obtain these weapons. I think a reasonable alternative is lowering the Dockets cost of upgrading to 50k (or 30k), and have it grant a 2% increase instead. You could add additional restrictions, however this runs the risk of making the gear feel like unobtainium to some players, or not worth the investment. Keeping it costly enough to matter, but not to the point where it’s a chore to do it, makes it attractive to both parties still, and makes the process more rewarding as a result instead of stressful to players who may be adverse to a steep time investment into a single piece of gear if the immediate benefits aren’t clear.
A good excuse from the lore perspective could be our Rejects officially being recognized as a properly valued member of the Warband, worthy of armaments using true Moebian Steel once recreating the Rite of Steel is completed by Kayex.
