I'm disappointed

I’m disappointed that I have to wait another month and a half to play the full game. I have 1000+ hours in Vermintide 2 and I enjoyed Darktide as much as I expected to. Can’t wait for the full thing. In the demo I got psyker to 16, ogryn 10, preacher 5, and gunner 2.

I really enjoyed the psyker and ogryn. The ogryn perspective took some getting used to (thinking I’m in cover but my giant body is sticking out around the corner). The preacher plays pretty much the same as the zealot (my least favorite salts career). The sharpshooter was meh. Just not really my play style, and I had a hard time seeing enemies well enough in order to shoot their heads.

Issues

UI

  • Needs to be easier to see ally class and map tier difficulty while in mission.
  • Need mouse sensitivity setting.
  • Need ability to compare equipped weapon stats to new weapon.
  • Gear stats are in different order.
  • Need an in game legend. What the hell is Agony or the icons by weapons?
  • Need push to talk
  • I miss the scoreboard. I like being able to see how I did, and to tell people “You see how many times you went down? That wouldn’t happen if you stayed with the team!”. Although, it might help prevent circle chasing bad behavior.
  • Not all keyboard keys can be rebound, like brackets {}.

Concerns

  • There are more than 4 maps right?
  • Occasionally I get very long loads into missions. However, I suspect a rando or 2 has a HDD in stead of a SSD.
  • I assumed there would be subclasses on release, but realized it was one career per class. That feels like a big OOF, having a lot less abilities to use, but if enough classes get released it might not be too bad.
  • Maybe it’s just me, but enemies blend in well with the maps and it makes it very difficult to shoot them accurately from range.
  • There can be way too many gunners and they have infinite range. I feel like their range needs to be nerfed a bit, or have worse accuracy at long range.
  • Is there more than one boss (plague Ogryn)?
  • Playing with one friend we started doing tier 4 missions at level 7 and if we had decent teammates it felt fairly easy. Didn’t try tier 5, but worried it might be too easy once we hit max level.
  • Not really sure how weapon unlocks work. Didn’t get a staff until my psyker was level 13. Would like to start with one in stead of guns.

Nitpicks

  • Elevators are super jittery.
  • Can’t cancel some reload animations.
  • You can conserve stamina by constantly jumping.

1 class per career is definite oof and there was some balance I could see straightened out (holy moses block canceling with Ogryn’s butcher knife L1 was like a blender) but it was pretty enjoyable. Audio cues don’t really seem that obvious either.

Without subclasses I really feel like it needs to start with at least 8 characters. This is definitely the most painful problem.

Also, I really, really like the toughness shield a lot more than temp health.

Yeah man, i am dissapointed as well to still have to wait. Even when i complain about them not using the potnetial of their game again, the most important factor for me is the gameplay loop and thats still good as ever.

Same. 4 classes at release (with very basic designs…) is slap in face vs 15 in V2 on release. Considering they were even able to deliver 4th Sienna subclass in V2 I don’t have my hope high for them to do 1 extra class per quarter for Darktide. Game will die off quickly without more classes.

Should be minimum 8 at launch. 12 would be perfect to give them time to work on new ones before people will discover everything about the base ones.

This game is not ready to release.

we haven’t seen 100% of content there are plenty more weapons but i agree its hard to believe that weapons alone can make up in variety,
they really need to slap
