Now we’re talking, Deckard would be proud.
They can’t be the same, as my Tempestus Scions come naturely equipped with a hotshot lasgun/helgun (high energy laser gun) and gunners can upgrade to a Hotshot Volley Gun (which in Kill Team Tabletop is in it’s profile quite close to a heavy bolter).
Also any Scion/Storm Trooper in the books is equipped with the Hotshot Lasgun aka HELGun aka Hellgun.
The ‘Hotshot’ derives from the more powerful las beam (“hotter” → High Energy Laser) wich trades range for more punch, thats stated in the lore and reflected by the Tabletop weapon profiles
Edit:
And that leads me to the question how to properly implement them? They need to have significant more punch than any las weapon atm and significant less range than any las weapon.
But why would you choose it, if there is Bolter which fills that role (without the range issue you could argue). If you do sth like faster reload and such things why would you choose bolter?
Just thinking about that.
i purely based them on the volume of fire they threw out. no need to apologies as the idea of future Scab Commandos could be a interesting enemy elite with hellguns.
see above. a small team fo three commandos as an elite spawn perhaps.
the issues is most players who play psyker instinctively press reload to vent peril, thus players keep making the mistake of reloading by accident when they only wanted to vent the heat and that reload takes a full three business days to finish. In the end i just see no reason for the reload AND heat to be factored for the weapon.
I was suggesting a new plasma gun mark that is only heat based, no ammo, no reload.
I was working on a concept some time ago for a hellgun for veteran that functions like a regular lasgun but with a braced firing mode rather than ADS most of the time. When you press the special key, you replace the magazine with a backpack power-supply that allows you to draw ammo directly from your reserves and dramatically alters the damage, fire-rate, and ammo consumption of the weapon.
Switching to your melee and back forces you to reload the weapon, either with a regular mag, or the special backpack supply. So you really need to commit to using the barrage mode, as you are punished for switching to melee reactively.
the no ammo i highly doubt would be balanced.
