Ideas for Darktide combined

I. Endgame / highest difficulties

As it being mentioned many times, there is almost no real point in higher difficulties other than self-challenge. Or, to be more accurate - there is no loot point in that.
Ways to change that:

  1. Weapon customization and better parts (bayonets, laser sights, more powerful flashlights, scopes e.t.c.) are to be looted at the end of 4th and 5th difficulties.
  2. Create ingame encyclopedia and fulfill it with lore, arts, concepts, enemies and weapons data, W40K slang e.t.c. The most secret and unique data for this encyclopedia is being acquired upon completing 4th and 5th difficulty. Encyclopedia can also be fitted with the history and 3d map of Atoma Prime and Moebian Domain, and player can acquire parts of these history and map by completing 4th and 5th difficulty. With future updates and DLCs, 3D map can become bigger, show new Hives (which at this moment would be like ā€œblack spotsā€ on the map of Atoma).
  3. Guaranteed Emperors gifts of purple and orange levels.

II. Bigger role of scriptures and grimoires
Right now they are just ā€œthings to be found and collected with Eā€. Yet these books do have quiet and mystical presentation, and it would be good to have them getting bigger role in the gameplay - for example, each book could give you different knowledge, would that be lore (you get new pages in ingame encyclopedia once and when itā€™s released) or perks, characteristics or patterns you can apply for your equipment. So when you find a grimoire, you do know that you pick up something really important, a small part of a W40K world.

III. Main objective / side objective concept - ā€œCleanse the Ecclesiarchy Cathedralā€

First of all, I just walkthroughed the new mission for me, in which you visit the huge underground city. My regards to your lever-designer, Fatshark. The visuals of this, the art of tech-gothicā€¦ Just magnificent.

Yet we donā€™t really enter any Cathedral on our way. The new mission type for that -
We approach the Cathedral

in which heretics created 2 or 3 altars. Those altars can only be destroyed by melee, and they have some huge amount of hp, so there is a choice - the whole team tries to destroy the altar with their swords to make it as fast, as possible, or only 1 player begins to destroy it, while all the others cover him from hordes, that come to defend the altar.
During Halloween, or some events, or special missions these altars may be changed to daemonhosts with the same goal - cleanse the Cathedral.

IV. Enemies bodies dissappear / small immersion detail

Right now, they just pop out, and it kills atmosphere and immersion like hell. Can you please add some kind of bodies vanishing animation, like in Doom 3, or Dark Souls series? In Doom 3, f.e., demon bodies are like burned out from the inside, and then disappear.
+
Whenever you kill an enemy with a headshot / brain burst / cutting their head off, they still make a death sound (roaring, screaming, crying out e.t.c.). This really kills an immersion for a small time. Could you please make a no-sound-if-died-from-headstrike scheme.

For now thatā€™s it. Gonna add something new if that comes up in mind. Cheers

Deeper into the encyclopedia.

For example, Iā€™m pretty sure Fatshark designers and artists have tones of concept arts and design works right know lying in their tables - those can easily be put into the scriptures, and from them - intro encyclopedia. And they can even be shown as a part of the world - like somebody (or something) painted a gunner, brawler or a monstrosity.

The Atoma Prime or even the whole Moebian Domain could be present as a huge 3d Map, which, after we start to find parts of it, can be rotated like google maps 3d from google earth. The more lost sectors of the map you find, the more you can see. World parts from future updates and dls could be respectively found in higher difficulties of those dlc missions.

An idea of the map with the Cadia Sector as an example:

I would love that just having cool lore unlocks by doing penances or secondary missions and the hardest lore to unlock would be damnation with grims.
Even using grims to unlock enemyā€™s in the meat grinder would be cool.

I just think the best way would be to design the secondary objectives would be finish the crafting system then give crafting mats for rerolls and upgrades to secondary objectives rewards and maybe even get random blessings if we are gonna be able to take them off weapons anyway.
Then you can balance them so you get really big rewards for doing a damnation with 2 grims.

Youā€™re one of the few people on the forums who actually propose fun and interesting concepts. Iā€™m stealing your take on looting attachment materials on difficulty 4 and 5 for my post. Cheers

Weapons customization parts example:

Stub revolver - speedloader

Shotgun - flashlight, laser sight, different ammunition for that ā€œspecial attackā€ shot - incendiary, slug, horizontal (which we have now) e.t.c. You choose any type - you get it for the whole mission for each time you press C.

Lasguns - laser sights, more powerful flashlights (for example, their distance is worse, yet they can blind enemies when you aim at them), iron sights instead of optics

Recon lasguns - different flashlights, laser sights

Laser sights decrease spread when you shoot from the hip.

Wanting to play higher difficulties so you can get more powerful gear to ease the difficulty back down to what youā€™ve experienced previously in lower difficulties doesnā€™t make sense to me.

You get more powerful gear anyway. With each emperors gift or shop revisited you have a chance for better equipment. Thatā€™s not the point of my idea.

Upgrades needed for UI:

Numbers of EXP needed for next level in Character screen, not only in after-mission screen

Exact mission types left for me to be completed to fulfil the penance, with current ā€œ5/7ā€ I have to guess which ones I have to finish.

Darktide has some amazing potential for PVE / single player free roam mode.

Like, you have a huge level with stashes, secrets, puzzles e.t.c.

Iā€™ll think through the concept of this and write it down.

At least have the nurgle infested rot away or turn into a puddle of ooze.

I think Throneside the first enemy area we enter is a cathedral, with the red carpet to the alter. The ingame chatter is this is halfway up the hive and isnt as pretty as the top (according to the pilot i forget her name)

But we never enter a Cathedral in the most standard fashion, by way of front door.

I never really understood how bringing a chaos infected book full of corruption BACK to the main ship was a good idea. I wished they made a new mechanic for Darktide, like S.T.Cā€™s. That has immense importance to Mechanicus and Hadron would foam at the mouth if we found one and demand we return with it upon any means. The S.T.Cā€™s could also lead directly into crafting since its lost technology.

  1. Psyker ā€œWarp batteryā€ penance still has wrong discription that it can be done on Malice. No, only Heresy and higher

  2. Not all Zealot voicelines are being muffled when gas mask from the store is put on.

Enemies death sound

Whenever you kill an enemy with a headshot / brain burst / cutting their head off, they still make a death sound (roaring, screaming, crying out e.t.c.). This really kills an immersion for a small time. Could you please make a no-sound-if-died-from-headstrike scheme.

Options:

  1. Add this as an official game option / game mode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apuKEIMwElI&t=76s&ab_channel=Categorical

  2. Option to turn off crosshairs and hit markers

  3. Solo / single player mode with and without bots, with less enemies spawn, so one could fully dive into Darktide atsmosphere.

I like the ā€˜Cleanse Locationā€™ side objective idea. Could be linked to penances and/or materials to encourage players to complete them. Definitely needs to be locations that require the players make slight detours from the direct routes.

Other options could include:

  • Locate and blow up a stranded military vehicle.
  • Rescue a Servo-Skull from a failed strike team.
  • Demolish a corrupted Cogitator array thatā€™s transmitting Scrapcode.
  • Repair/Cleanse an Augur Array
