We’ve been waiting for four years already ))
Every class needs uniques really but only ogryn gets them. Vet hasn’t gotten a veteran specific gun ever. Even though they’re the “ranged guy” according to FS
If that happens, we can gradually forget about the Veteran and Zealot. Only the die-hard fans of these classes will occasionally be seen in a game session.
I guess they added the new shotguns so the Veteran wouldn’t cry himself to sleep at night into a metal pillow on the ship, jealous of the Arbites’ shotguns.
But like how, can you give me details. or show me something that was in vermintide but not here. Like you mean the spear one for single target that you sniped with? or do you have something else in mind
I actually kinda don’t like how arbs doesn’t get to use it. I mean I get it since its the best of both exterminator marks, but the sniper version has been pretty underwhelming even in auric for a while. Maybe it could have gotten some love instead of freaking lone wolf…shot pistol too. Even just making the revolver a 6 shooter and the exterminator Mk8 5 shots would have been something.
it’s kinda obviously all very low effort stuff. the shield is such a joke it’s insane. people have been asking for ages to let us use the power maul component of the shield so it’s more varied and fatshark just puts another shield in with slightly different lights that you still spam h1 on. cool.
the hammer is good in the sense that it’s conceptually just a copy of the vt2 hammer, which is established goodness. but then the sound effects and speed of it make it feel like it’s hollow, and the light attack chain is low quality and obviously some sort of mishmash of existing animations they reused. the weapon teleports across the screen during combos which feels janky and is an obvious drop in quality many weapons have since their team lost key personnel.
all in all a disappointing update, even if it’s conceptually good. it seems fatshark as a studio is undergoing a competency crisis, and that they probably know what they should be doing, but can’t anymore. yes we need more weapons but we need cool new interesting weapon concepts not “shield but the light attack is different”, the boss is another good example of this: yes we’ve been needing story bosses for a while now but then this one is just more or less copypasted from vt2.
It’s no secret that the Sharks use their previous work from Vermintide 2. But I would make some changes. We probably shouldn’t hope for much more.
If I rely on my imagination, the staff would grab targets in a cone-shaped trajectory with a Warp beam on right-click and start draining their health at close and medium range, causing a massive Warp strike/health explosion. The more targets it grabs in front of you, the stronger the overheating, with the mass explosion causing 99–100% overheating. And the grabbed targets must definitely be stunned, like when they’re hit by electricity, otherwise there will be nothing left of the Psyker but his shoes on the floor.
The damage would, of course, also scale with Blessings. I even have one or two ideas: at maximum overheating, there would be a chance to kill all the grabbed targets, and the more targets there are, the higher the chance. Another Blessing could increase the number of beams that grab targets. This staff should be powerful, but demanding to use.
And the second one could be the Elven staff from the second game, but also with the ability to increase the number of enemies lifted into the air through Blessings. With a certain chance, two or three large targets could be lifted, while even more smaller enemies could be lifted. On pressing again, or perhaps the left mouse button, the lifted enemies would be slammed into the ground. Bosses couldn’t be lifted, but their movement could be held back with telekinesis.
Basically, it would be a support-oriented staff, although you could still have enough time to put the staff away, pull out your sword, and start sticking it into Nurgling corpses and smashing them into the ground.
Third staff (why not?) — it charges lightning energy in the left hand and fires a powerful arc of lightning at only one target, so that it doesn’t compete too much with Voidstrike. High damage, medium resource consumption. It would have a longer range than the regular lightning staff.
vt2 for exmaple had a beam staff that was quite cool (if broken for a long time). it also has a fireball staff that throws arcing projectiles that explode on impact, and a staff that summons flame jets that keep burning a location (felt op to me)
as for original concepts i can think of many more than this because psyker, unlike sienna, is not limited to fire. not too sure about 40k psyker stuff but i’m just throwing random stuff at the wall here that i assume the lore would support
- freeze staff of sorts that slows enemies down gradually and eventually full freezes them
- mass brainburst staff that lets you paint an amount of targets, then pop them all at once
- some sort of sonic staff concept that maybe has a gimmick where you have to tune the frequency to the enemies you’re trying to kill with it
- telekinetic staff that throws random things at enemies, maybe even other enemies
- pseudo melee staff that works like a whip
i think the real reason fatshark is not implementing any of those is because they lost technical competences on their inhouse engine, which also would explain their swap to ue5 in their unannounced game
What? Did the key developers leave the Sharks?
actual concrete info is that
- their tech director was hired by arrowhead according to arrowhead ceo (hd2 uses a similar, related engine as tide games),
- their lead combat designer left to make his own studio,
- they’ve been hiring for an unannounced project in ue5 for a while now and hiring positions imply it could be a horde game
the rest is me connecting these dots and speculating, especially because in my opinion there has been a noticable drop in what kind of content they make and how high quality it is in darktide which aligns with these people leaving
Where is the alt fire ability for staves? They feel so dated and silly. That isn’t to say they aren’t still powerful, but the lack of variety is lame.
The way trauma staff aims is tragic as well, aiming in stairs as trauma has been awful since the start and has never been addressed.
dude i was there when doom 2 in 1994 brought a new shotgun and 3 new enemies and everyone was the happiest slayer on the planet.
if your attention span is focused on “new new new” nothing will satisfy that for long.
me, i play games for decades and still enjoy em for what they offered when released cause back in the day you got the game and that was it ![]()
and nope, them cool mega-wads were a “mod” in todays vocabulary, the devs did their job and called it quits on that front as well
Bro, in 1994 I was only a few years old, and I was happy to find a stick shaped like a gun)) And overall, I was satisfied with the toys I had. But I grew up, just like the industry did, and as a millennial I grew up with a huge variety in the computer gaming industry.
As a gamer who knows and is used to their model of developing games through free and paid content, I, and most people in general, will obviously be waiting for something new! And at the same time, we will want — and sometimes even objectively expect — new, authentic content within the Warhammer universe!
And when they release yet another uninteresting set of weapons once a year instead of the highly anticipated, truly Warhammer weapons, people gradually start getting frustrated, and the fact that they are almost reskins makes it even worse.
I think they are holding back the Melta for Sister of Battle launch
Like chat block! Right…?

There’s helbore that can what you describe and barely anyone plays it, such weapons don’t fit high difficulty pacing.
maybe a time travel will be refreshing then.
sure, most graphics are dated now (though theres plenty good source ports like uzdoom/eduke32 and sin reloaded is well done albeit a bit expensive for a 28 year games remaster)
but it could serve as a remedy to see its not always been that way.
theoretically its even “new” content for the youngsters and one could even do an anthology playthrough starting with the oldest title i.e doom 1993 with high res textures to doom dark ages in one straight line.
that should make for some 50-80 hours depending on difficulty and speed of the player.
half life then black mesa, quake 1 & 2 got real good remasters, later one even a rtx option.
and im advising this having the most recent (doom would be 15k hours or something if it had a playtime counter since 93) most played hours (2k) in darktide and dont get to play much else trying to keep up with the content for my channel ![]()
luck of the later born is having lots to explore backwards, perks of the OGs is having these vhs framed memories of the very first second of a games release on a 486 and an egg-white 4:3 display ![]()
greedy fatshark will only add meltagun n long las for paid dlc classes
It would of course be disappointing if the only way to play as her was through a paid class, rather than Zealot or Veteran.
I’m a little skeptical about the release of the Battle Sister. The Zealot is very similar to the Sisters in terms of mechanics, and the Zealot already uses almost the entire Sisters’ arsenal.
