What new weapons for the base classes would you like to see?

in the hopes of reminding fatshark that there is still tons of unrealized potential i’d like to remind them that the base classes still have many obvious, and some surely fun to implement weapon options open.

i will name the ones i think that would add to the game and class gameplay in no particular order, feel free to correct if something is not lore appropriate

veteran:

  • lmg (like on the talent tree art)
  • hotshot lasgun
  • plasma pistol
  • flamer
  • power fist (goes for multiple characters including ogryn)

zealot:

  • melta
  • polearms
  • shield weapons
  • poweraxe (there is even a leaked weapon model for it that fatshark commissioned)
  • flail

ogryn:

  • autocannon
  • brass knuckles/bare fists
  • big hammer
  • multilas
  • heavy bolter
  • heavy flamer
  • power drill
  • circular saw (like in payday 2)

psyker (the saddest)

  • a new staff
  • any new staff
  • please, it’s the staff class, add a new staff
  • force axes
  • force halberd
  • a new staff, any new staff, it’s been 4 years add a new staff to the magic staff class, he only has 4

to me it’s kind of sad to see that Darktide has been around for so long but these very obvious concepts are still nowhere to be seen. for some it’s somewhat understandable, maybe they can’t figure out how to implement an autocannon for ogryn to be different from his stubbers. but for others it’s genuinely hard to understand how there has been nothing new. psyker staves especially. the sky is the limit on designing how a psyker staff plays. but also stuff like ogryn fist weapon is such an obvious thing that could give him such cool new gameplay…

Zealot/Veteran/Ogryn/Skitari - double power claws - imagine going woloverine style on the Heretics:)

Zealot - a medium sized blade all rounder weapon , i think its missing in the Zealot inventory. Something similar in function to veteran’s Power Falchion/Power Sword

Veteran - projectile equivalent to hellbore rifle, i find the charge up mechanic to unwiedldy to use. Like in SM2 you had the hellbore and and little less powerful, but not rquiring charge up, projectile version.

Vet
Longlas or any kind of actual sniping weapon for vet (you know, the class that has SHARPSHOOTER in it’s name?)
Hellgun /Heavy stubber (LMGs)
+speedloader for ALL revolver variants

Ogryn:
A ripped off turret

At the moment, there’s 3 weapons I really want to see in Darktide.

  1. Ogryn Brass Knuckles - This is just a barehanded punching weapon, with middling damage, very high stagger, and low cleave, and its special is a grab that works identically to the pick special pull, except if it hits a chaff enemy like a groaner or poxwalker, it picks them up and swings them like a bat in a high cleave, high damage attack that also damages the enemy being swung.

  2. Ogryn Javelin - This is functionally Kerillian’s Javelin from VT2, but visually it’s a couple lengths of rebar twisted together and crudely sharpened on one end, and when you throw it, any enemy it kills has their ragdoll picked up and carried by the javelin until it stops (and if it stops by hitting a wall, it will pin the ragdoll to the wall)

  3. Zealot/Skitarii Halberd - I picture it as essentially Saltzpyre’s Bill Hook, in terms of moveset and concept, with the aesthetic being the skitarii spear weapons I remember seeing in a few images. I just think DT needs more 2h weapons, and a polearm would be fantastic.

Polearms, polearms, polearms, polearms. Something akin to vt2 halberd especially. Idc who it’s on, i will play them just to use polearms.

More Powers, Not just limiting to Assail, Crush and Smite,

But ones like Emperor’s Wrath, Fear made Mainfest, VOrtex of Doom!!!

Pick 3 different Psyhic Powers and you can select which one to cast.

I just want the Skitarii weapons to be usable on the other human classes :sob: That’s a good start

I remember that in the Settings, the Skitarii weapons would generate heat and radiation that was unbearable for ordinary people when in operation

I’d like to propose another question, for the sake of diversifying the conversation within this particular Topic.

What existing Weapons will the Skitarii have and not have access to?

I don’t feel like the Skitarii would be really interested in any Ranged Weapons from the “Primitive” category of Ballistics, for example.

“Primitive” Ballistics include Ranged Weapons like:
Braced Autoguns, Combat Shotguns, Double-Barrelled Shotguns, Infantry Autoguns, Quickdraw Stub Revolvers, Shredder Autopistols and Vigilant Autoguns.

Galvanic rifles are pretty primitive, it’s the ammunition that’s advanced. That said though I would not be suprised if they only get the base classes energy weapons.

look likely they won’t have access to anything Las Bases, Bolt, or Flame, but could be equipped with Shredder Auto Pistol or Stubber pistol if they don’t have a mechanicus Pistol(radium serpenta) , a Plsama weapon can work.

if they go More towarsd CQB it would be good to Stub Carbine, and Posphors serpenta /Blast pistol, Or a Galvanic Carbine.

las pistols, plasma gun, and power sword is my crackpot prediction if I had any faith, the shared weapons would get techpriest-y skins to go with it. I mean the plasma caliver is just raypunk’d plasma gun

Yeah, I agree.

Although, I suspect that they won’t ACTUALLY be getting the existing Munitorum Power Sword, seeing as they’re getting their own exclusive Mars Power Sword.

I will be surprised if the transonic sword operates similar to the power sword. PS is strong but controversial

Skitarii are getting Dual Wield of Transonic Blade and Transonic Razor, however, they’re also getting their own Mars Power Sword.
