Like I said in my first post, this is not an optimal solo by any means. Not trying to diminish the run, but that setup and basic strat could result in a time less than half of that. For what appears to be a really long spur of the moment clutch, it went remarkably well, but it’s far from an optimized solo speed run. Lots of individual moments are not necessarily ideal, but the totality of the decision making is good.
Are there other solo runs to compare it to? I’m a little shocked this is even possible lol
I haven’t gone looking for another one, and I only skimmed this video. I can say for an absolute certainty that the guy started playing very, very conservatively after he killed the plasma twin. Finishing off sword lady could have easily been done in a fraction of the time. This is very understandable given the situation, but again, it’s the kind of thing you would not expect to see in a solo speedrun where clear time is a concern.
The decision to start engaging crushers in melee at this point makes no sense as an isolated decision. It wouldn’t make any sense to engage them in ranged either. Optimally, they should have been avoided as was done earlier in the run. But again, that was what felt comfortable at the time, and this is clearly a spur-of-the-moment clutch.
It’s 100% the move speed and dodge that does it. When you can kite forever, nothing’s really a threat.
see children, even John Wick runs max hp curios, hp is the most important stat in the game, a good occasion to raise awareness about that
the feat is truely commendable, and i thought killing the ranged twin was the hard part, this was truely epic
loved you kept your priorities straight for the whole ordeal
So this is what melk means by auric class operatives
This one is smoother and more deliberate for sure.
And yeah, gotta say I agree. This actually doesn’t look too hard. Like, I’m sure all the usual suspects can to do this without much trouble, and I’d lump myself in there.
Do I want to spend 30 minutes running around the boss room? Eh. Probably not. We’ll see.
There’s skill in it for sure, but I’d bet that we’d have trouble finding someone who could do it without running something with the same level of mobility.
Undoubtedly. The vast majority of the playerbase can’t do this. This also takes a ton of patience and composure. My problem on this is I’d likely get bored and get reckless.
The vast majority of the playerbase can’t solo much of anything though, and I would not consider this the hardest solo in any regard. Because you can basically deny the director the ability to spawn disablers in any real numbers during this boss fight by keeping crushers and maulers alive, this is easier than soloing, and I’d even say duoing, most maps on standard Damnation.
so dumb
I lose my nerve the longer something goes on for. The slow methodical souls-like games are something I’ll probably never be good at with my general temperament. I have the reflexes, and mechanics down but not the patience which is a skill unto itself I’m lacking in.
It’s why I haven’t been able to complete a true solo run in this game yet. I always find a way to sabotage myself by getting too excited, and making a misplay. All of my losses are either at the very start, or at the very end. Almost none in the middle of a map.
I think of how many things can go wrong instead of staying in the zone.
TL;DR Same, bro.
I call that bold talk for a one-eyed fat man
GG to the OP.
Despite the “meh, this doesn’t look too hard, coulda done it in half the time, zealot just OP, lots of folks could prob do this” comments… still no other solo hardmode runs apart from OP’s. Searched on youtube and the only other solo I could find was someone exploiting an infinite-stealth bug.
I’M JUST SAYIN
