I just realized about the psyker tree

I’m not going to have enough points to get what I want from either direction of the tree methinks. I’m gonna have to choose more carefully…

I suppose that just means it’ll suit my playstyle in a more niche way?

I love that we’ll get more choices with consequences.

My main concern is just how massive the power creep will be. The sounds are already broken beyond measure, likely in large part due to the insane spawns. I’m really not looking forward to them making it even worse than it already is…

Yes, I noticed this myself when they published the new tree, addition of new talents might lead to some difficult choices. Removal of the Inspiring Presence talent improves mixing and matching somewhat, but I see some hard choices ahead. I actually sat down to figure out at least few builds I want to try out. Mainly those which incorporate the new melee talents, I don’t care much about staff additions, but even melee ones in few cases feel uninspired. Those ideas should just about to work BUT at the cost of extra toughness regen talents I take now, which will make a glass cannon class even more glass cannon, thanks to how inflexible the psyker is with toughness regen and toughness damage reduction options.

Anyway this have pushed me into testing few builds I previously dismissed, and its not that bad. After all you cannot expect to grab all the good stuff in one build! Well unless you are a zealot or ogryn that is :joy:

Unchained Psyker is now on the menu! :nail_care: :wheel_of_dharma:

Ha, partially for sure, however Unchained attack speed and power scaled with with her overcharge. Psyker’s attack speed buff is static.

I’m a visual person and couldn’t make sense of where those talents were. So made this, hopefully it helps others.

Also I’m ashamed to admit that I realized only now they’ve completely changed the pathing!

  • No more Mind in Motion garbo if you come from Assail and don’t want the crit aura!
  • Empathic Evasion & Anticipation now accessible from any aura
  • Solidity is 2 points cheaper, and now the obvious path through to ignore Puppet Master
  • Warp Siphon depth reduced by 2 points!
    • Possible to stack both In Fire Reborn & Psychic Vampire? Or mutually exclusive?

Anyway… yeah.

I was kinda hoping for a melee toughness regen talent tbh

Probably the biggest thing for me is able to skip Inspiring presence (which was cut) when pathing through smite for the Psykinetic Aura, and that I can grab One with the Warp with Crit aura (although I might still just go for CDR aura).

Scrier psyker going to be nuts.

The most flexible and reliable option is Mettle atm, and they are nerfing it :joy:

Well yes and no. All classes get the base 5% toughness per melee kill. And psykers just got a whole swathe of melee buffs.

I mean, in a sense just that +100% cleave means in groups you get the same amount of toughness as before, except while killing twice as many mobs while you do and without relying on crits for it either. :joy:

Btw other stuff I wanna point out that I’m kinda excited about:

  • Empyric Resolve costs nothing extra on the way to Warp Siphon. A flat -40% peril generation is absolutely huge since peril efficiency is multiplicative!
    • I love the idea of the talent! With that much less peril generation and that -30% toughness gen on top it’s a huge nerf to all psyker active & passive toughness gen. So it balances ridiculous offense with a massive drop in defense, ideal for experienced players who want to test those limits and really dish out dmg like never before.
    • I especially wanna test that out with Scrier’s for some completely new kinds of ultra aggressive staff builds!
  • I also can’t wait for Purge with Empyric Shock
    • The primary spam has always been fantastic for CC but very lackluster in dmg, since EShock buffs Soulblaze it should be a sizeable buff
    • The 10% rending node is right there too. So both those 2 with the new ~20% rending blessing could really do some dmg.
  • Speaking of Empyric Shock, I can’t wait to do Surge builds with that and the new Surge blessing
    • Spamming primaries & unleashing double secondaries with the +30% dmg debuff (I assume) on top will very likely consolidate its place as the definitive single target melter
  • Back to shotties, I shudder to think of what Tranquility Through Slaughter will do with them. I’d assume they learned from Mettle and the quelling procs on attack, not hit, but I suppose we’ll find out.
  • And then ofc there’s the Devil’s Claw parry change
    • If it actually blocks attacks during the parry instead of letting them through like now, just imagine full-on melee psykers with Kinetic Deflection and that thing. Literally just facetank everything longer than any other class could.

Nice mockup. That said, Souldrinker is surely on the wrong side of the tree, no?

They listed 3 new talents for the left side, 4 for right including Souldrinker. The picture likewise has 3 and 4. So I assume it’s on the right side.

I also did my best to read into the icons when I could but assumptions only take you so far. x.x

While I can’t say what the other icons are I’m pretty sure of the ones you have to go through to get to either branch.

On left I assume it’s going to be Perilous Assault. The other two have staff icons to fit the two staff talents there, and it would just track to put the most useless of the 3 as extra tax to get there. (understandable, path costs and benefits are part of the balancing after all)

Oh right I assume it’s Lightning Speed. There’s only 2 melee talents & 2 icons there, and of those two the first one has these tiny up-facing arrows implying speed. And as with the left side, the 10% attack speed is the least interesting of all the talents there.
