I am requesting a refund for the game itself due to false advertising. (see contents)

Issue Description (Required):

i am requesting a refund due to the fact that a true solo mode was promised to us and has yet to be given. this was promised to be available on release when the game launched, and yet, i am not able to play the game without people.

now, i bought the preorder of this game expecting to be able to play it solo on launch and was surprised when i couldn’t. i just figured that maybe, just maybe, it’s a little late and that it’d come later. it has been almost 3 full years now.

i am reasonable, i waited, i asked about it. i did not get a response from fatshark that satisfied me, if i even got one at all. the only responses i remember getting were from the community who’s only ever told me that it isn’t coming.

i have decided that i’ve waited long enough and i am now sternly requesting my rightful refund. and to all those people who say to just use a mod or that almost nobody wants to play solo or that it isn’t needed, shut your mouth. the mod does not allow progression and a large amount of the community wants solo just as much as i do.

solo mode was promised to be in the game on release, it wasn’t, we were told it was being worked on, it’s not here, we were told it wasn’t a priority, it should have been. i am being far more polite than i really should be, but i believe that it is my fault for believing a company would tell the truth in their advertising. Hey Lexxxie, we can look in to whether a refund would be possible as long as your hours played does not exceed our threshold. Please Submit a Support Ticket and be sure to include the URL to your Steam profile. Thank you!

Lexxie is fully in the right.

There it would most likely depend on whether or not the game was advertised as Solo possible (for examples ads, or on the Steam page of Darktide).

As they (FS) might argue that things said on forum threads (both here and steam threads), aren’t advertisements.

nope, every specified promise of any official account counts as a definitive promise

This is what I mean. I’ve seen devs from other game before argue that things said in their game forum are for people who already have bought the game, and not advertisement or influencing purchases.

Not that I’m defending not having Solo (at least for the main campaign and Mortis), like no reason for those 2 to not have it

Unlikely considering that this is not a Darktide forum, but a Fatshark forum, and thus anyone could easily have read that statement coming from another FS product. interesting point tho

I mean if you buy a game with a feature promised, where you likely would not have bought it without said feature, and that feature seems to be just on the horizon for a very long time. Then that feature is no longer on the horizon but also very much not outright ruled out, I think it’s pretty reasonable that you play the game for however many hours in the meantime trying to make the most of it.

Frankly hours here shouldn’t matter. If Fatshark had clearly stated that Solo is outright not coming, then someone continued to play the game beyond that, fair enough they’ve thrown away their right to a refund. That hasn’t happened though, it’s just been vague and non committal.

If this person has decided the wait on a definitive answer isn’t worth it anymore and want to give up on your product entirely for failed promises, it seems morally (not legally, not commenting on that aspect), you owe them a refund plain and simple.

It’s quite a slimy defence, but iirc it has previously worked in the favour of dev studios.

I can generally see it working, just not in this particular case as mentioned as how overlapping the titles in this forum are

Technically the law does not specify any amount of time, so long as “conformity is not met” the claim is valid, tho of course could swing either way in court.

and i agree, granting the refund outright regardless would be the virtuous thing to do.

Adding this one to the Book.

Also with the right mod, ManyMoreTry, you can play solo games with progression. As long as you load up a mission thats no longer on the mission board(or is older than 1 hour i think) people wont be able to quickplay into it. But thats not the way it should have to be done. It should be an official solo mode thats actually a part of the game but here we are like you said almost 3 years later lmao

@Lexxxielove did you end up getting anywhere on this?

Sorry, and I play it. I actually clean heresy and now try to clean damnation as well, and not just by “accident” but as a basis.

But this is not the promised game mode.
You need to go outside the vanilla game and install mods (something not everybody can or wants)
This has not full features of a solo game mode, just one I quote, you cannot use you own chars as bots.

Thf, while Solo had been promised, I don’t think they’ve mentioned before if it was planned to be with your own character or not

I agree

However, solo was closed to be delivered in october 2022. They planned to release it in december 2022.
So I guess that 2 years and 6 months may be enough to add this possibility that was added by a simple mod on nexus.

sadly, no. i’m pretty sure i’ll have to get a flight to sweden.

And the question… would you reconsider your decision if there was a solo game mode :innocent: ?
