I’m personally reserving judgement but I also wish they’d lead with something concrete and leave the esoteric stuff for afterwards when it’s established that I want to actually care about it. It’s clumsy but if the content will be good I dont mind clumsy so much. It’s just that I don’t know if the content will be good
i mean if the content is good that’s ultimately what matters but it just feels so clumsy compared to the Carnival release.
As much as i was very meh about it not including crafting i found it to be a good update and the trailer and hype leading up to it was really good. If they started the hint dropping before the skulls event then sure but instead we got the skulls trailer and announcement and then they dropped the hints which just leaves me like ???.

Sorry, this is above my pay grade. These riddles are immeasurably complex.
Most likely the gears are frozen and we’ll need to use environmentally found pickaxes to chip away the ice.

Of course. “Fatshark” and “meaningful content” don’t go together after all.
If Fatshark even attempted to deliver as much content as Ghost Ship Games in a singular update. They’d probably have to take a 2-4 year sabbatical.

Maybe the pickaxe icon meant that there is now testing/work being done on this weapon they promised. Apparently they’ve already finished it.
And the cog means, hmm, just finalising some technical aspects of the patch.
P.S. Re-read on the official X. I VERY much hope it’s not what I’m thinking now, ‘We don’t have anything ready and we’ll get this patch done in a fortnight’.
I’ve changed my mind. It’s the long awaited crafting patch. You know - you can now “pick” your own “settings”

Pretty sure the pick means mining resources, so we will get nodes of corpse-starch to mine with lil pickaxes.
And the gear means we will get giant cogs to carry around like in that V2 level, but we have to build a dreadnought called M.U.L.E.
This is so obvious to me! I cant wait to mine corspe-starch and carry cogs to our M.U.L.E.

TBH though, I can’t see FS going out of their way to draw comparisons between themselves and their more successful, less frustrating competitors. The only thing from DRG that it appears they’ve taken is the style of map selection, which - if we’re gonna call it like we see it - is the only part they could have taken which, divorced from the context of everything else surrounding it, would make the game worse.
