How to use Smite without making sweatlords mad

Anytime I come back for a week because of new content 98% of psykers i see are perma smite psykers who suck at the game and contribute little to nothing to games outside of cc. If your teammates arent killing anything theyre worthless in this game and especially at higher difficulties. Smite still plagues this game and it still hinders new psykers to this day and its honestly sad to see. Its one of if not the most dps scoreboard topping characters in the game and yet people continue to spam smite and dont ever learn how to properly play the class. Never mind the fact that if youre using smite you dont have access to brain burst which is amazing at dealing with long range threats or any threat your team cant currently deal with. Also when I came back to this game id have games with multiple smite psykers standing around doing nothing wiping then leaving the game. Below havoc this games still not darktide anymore its smite tide and everytime i come back im reminded of that. I have games where the bots who join after the smite psykers die and leave are more useful because at least they will revive you. Also smite adding an extra ten minutes to games and messing up skills proccing and slowing down the game for everyone as if we all need training wheels is annoying and unnecessary. Smiting 2% of a mission is fine smiting 100% of a mission cosplaying as a support player is where the issues lie with random Psyker teammates in this game. Id rather play with a bad inferno psyker than a smite psykers any day. Smite is rarely ever useful in your average hi shock mission whereas damage and wiping the screen is always useful. You smite to revive players and you smite when you need breathing room you dont smite the entire game because thats not how you play support in this game you support your teammates by killing things.

Playing my Vet? Smite away, I don’t care.

Playing my Zealot? Makes me wish friendly fire was enabled…

honestly? why care what they think? all of this guys points as well as your points are basically “i don’t like smite so don’t use it” you tell us how to play game we paid for with class we paid for and are using, even if some of points might be valid you have no right to tell anyone how to play and attack others unless we’re actively hurting the team which we are not i myself run a smite psyker simply becuse i love to see huge hordes burn…thats quite literally it i don’t do it to be the best, psyker isn’t my main and i definitely don’t play havocs with her i just hold my own in aurics and lower, my track record is about 70% successful missions with her and i can think of few times i saved the match despite being le bad meta shield+flame staff psyker you might think you’re helpful but being sweaty really doesn’t help anyone theres good difference betwee  n being helpful and being sweaty back seat gamer telling others what to play based on how you want rather than them having fun, you’re the latter, oh and i guarantee that being sweaty will not change smykers to not be smykers, toxicity never helps you turn your opponent to your side if anything entitled people in this match are encouraging me to play the newest map on my psyker

its the same crap as people complaining that arbi is too strong, so what? let people enjoy playing game their way, i didn’t pay for the game and the classes so some sweatlord dictates what abilities im going to use and anyone claiming otherwise is ENTITLED.

do NOT be ENTITLED like a lot of people in this thread and LET PEOPLE HAVE FUN IN GAME THEY’VE PAID FOR

Rework it to a CD or another idea that comes to mind is increase its peril generation and damage the longer its channeled (exponentially), small internal CD to prevent stop / restart spamming.

Maybe a small shock stun at end of cast too

“i will act toxic and ruin matches becuse i don’t like ability and class others are playing” is what you’re essentially saying, and no trolling and ruining matches isn’t same fun as using ability im allowed to use created by game for the player, what you’re doing is report worthy and genuinely bannable also quite sad, i mean you’re not even contributing to the match you’re actively trolling it which means that all your complaints about psykers ruining your match are irrelevant as you don’t intent to play it properly anyway.

i hope they don’t rework it solely becuse of you at this point tbh, you deserve the suffering just based on how entitled you the fact you have enough common sense to realize im right but also not enough common sense to realize why you should behave like an adult is baffling, the entitlement is getting out of realms of possibility at this point i mean most smyker haters in this thread are entitled but at least (i hope) most of them have decency to not actively ruin others matches, you’re a self proclaimed troll.

the eternal collide of “games are more fun when i actually get to interact with them” and “games are more fun if nobody interacts with them” continues

I was thinking about Smite the other day.

I have a friend who sometimes wears a backpack Van de Graaff generator and walks around shocking people. I – I mean he – gets more of a power fantasy from that than from Smite.

Chain lightening is fun, but I firmly believe Smite fans would have more fun if Smite was of shorter duration (I like the idea of having it operate off of delta-Peril) and did more while active - like turning low-mobs into burning gibbets, or held and burned-down a few targets. There’s a place for a good long demented cackle while holding a room at bay, but I don’t think it’s in DT.

its not really a collide, this is pretty straight forward, theres right and wrong.

theres a right side which is accepting that others will use abilities that game ALLOWS them to and are literally added into the game for player use, nobody has to play the game your way nor my way, people paid for the game and can play it with abilities they want to until fatshark decides otherwise, fatshark not entitled manchildren.

then there is wrong side which causes person to insult said abilitys players becuse they personally dislike it and in some cases as seen here go as far as to troll and ruin matches simply becuse they dissaprove of someone elses choice of playstyle.

“i firmly believe smite fans would have more fun” therein lies the problem YOU firmly believe it not me, you don’t find smite fun and you don’t use it, thats fine you won’t see me complaining about it, people have different versions of fun and thats something you have to accept in a co op game, i’ve tried every psyker build and like smite most why would i change my fun for others? especially when said change is asked in entitled and rude manner (not by you to be fair but by majority of this thread")

hypothetically this is an equivalant of a guy that likes to play minecraft more than dt and then he comes up to you and tries to strong arm you into playing minecraft with him becuse he thinks dt is boring and you shouldn’t play it, instead you should play his game his way, how would you react?

like i’ve said in my first post insulting and belittling people for their choices will honestly only cause even more players to use smite.

Yes, well, unfortunately, the way you play the game directly impacts my own game. Smite is fine in a singleplayer vacuum but it is a lot less fun and fine if someone else is using it.

I don’t have to use Smite. Other people don’t have to use Smite. But if they do, then that impacts me. And I don’t like the impact. Thus I reserve the right to complain.

While I fully agree with “fun is subjective to the individual” there’s certain times where my version of fun ruins the enjoyment for other people. Obviously me having fun with Vermintide while my friend prefers Left 4 Dead isn’t on of those times. But if we’re playing the same game, lets use L4D, and my way of enjoying the game is to turn on invincibility, unlimited ammo, and increase spawn counts by x15, and he prefers a vanilla experience and doesn’t have fun with being unkillable while mowing down hordes of zombies, then my fun is actively ruining his fun.

Smite works in the same vein. It’s fine if you have fun using it, but other people don’t have fun spending and entire match fighting “testing dummies” since everything in “that general direction” is perma-stunned. What’s fun for you is ruining the fun for 3 other people, which is the point of the thread. And that’s also why your Minecraft analogy doesn’t really work. If you come to me and say “I have more fun playing Minecraft than Darktide, so you should play Minecraft with me,” I can simply say no and continue playing Darktide. Your enjoyment of Minecraft isn’t affecting my Darktide experience. However, in a Darktide match your Smite directly affects how the other three players interact with the enemies. We can’t opt out of your Smite while remaining in the same match, and it won’t be fixed unless Fatshark implements a way to play Solo w/ Bots so you can have fun your way without impacting other people or they rebalance Smite so the functionality is the same without ruining the fun for others.

oh so suddenly it’s not okay to play how i want in the game i paid for? interesting. only ok for you then?

me hitting you with a barrel impacts your experience, but so does you smite spamming impact mine. why is it okay for you to disregard my fun but i cant disregard yours?

i wasn’t belittling you. i respect your right to do what you want in the game you paid for and i’ll defend it. it’s just that i also claim this right for myself, which you seem to hate. a bit telling how you reported the post even.

btw, all my deleted post said was “even though i hope fatshark changes smite spam to finally not be antifun anymore, i support everyones right to play the game how they want regardless of how it impacts other people, but that also means if you do it i might have more fun barreling you and will do that” apparently this has too much nuance and warrants deletion, thank you moderators

Me stating my belief that X would be more fun is not insulting or belittling something.

Heck: While I might be wrong, but I might even be right.

OTOH, going after someone for merely expressing an opinion is kinda scroff.

Hypothetically, it is equivalent to a guy saying, "I think Smite would be more fun if it was like [X], and another guy saying, “You having an opinion is the problem,” and then offering a mischaracterizing hypothetical.

Whoops. I see I should have read your earlier posts before replying, because then I wouldn’t have. (This is insulting and belittling you. Do you see a difference? No, no, that’s OK. You’re quite welcome for the lesson.)
