How to earn 2024 Season of Skulls Portrait Frame?

How do I earn the frame?

All it says in the main menu blurb is “Pick up Daemon Skulls”. I played on recruit, picked up one and finished the level but I dont see the frame.

Pick 100. It can be done in one CW run.

Another question: Do you need to complete the level with the skulls you picked up? Or can I go ham and just pick up willy nilly?

You can just go ham.

They can kill you though, if you stop killing long enough for the buffs they grant to wear off. The more skulls you pick up, the more buffs you get, but the more buffs you have, the less time you have between kills.

I didnt actually see the event tab in the book. Iv grown so accustomed to ignoring it because there is never any need to look in that tab. Much like the event board that was in PoE for literally YEARS with nothing on it.

Pet peeve No.10034: Coming Soon! tags and event tabs that remain barren year after year.

More specifically, after you earn the penance, I would grab one skull and leave it at that. On Legend dificulty, the amount of time between waves results in any buffs higher than that having a severe risk of ticking out and applying massive health drain, with 4 & 5 being basically guaranteed if you don’t have a good pace throughout the map. One skull is a sizeable power boost and lasts for a good long while.

Max skull buffs is 5, granting:

  • Power
  • Attack speed
  • Cleave
  • Movement speed
  • Cooldown

for each stack, top to bottom as you collect more. Picking up another skull or killing an enemy refreshes bonuses, as well as triggering unique event-related CW boons.

If the buff timer runs out, you lose HP per second equivalent to the amount of skull buffs you had when they decayed. Lasts about 15 seconds, I think, and damage taken this way can’t kill you.

My first try before I posted was Tower of Treachery on Legend. I didnt realise the debuff removed health, I thought “damage debuff” meant I do less damage :clown_face:

Anyway, I almost completed it (with bots) but the end event was a total :poop:show because Id picked up some 30 skulls and the bots just couldnt hack it and I cant hack it alone. Wave after wave of plague monks and :poop:stormers :weary:
