How 2 fix Darktide (somewhat): The Post

Unfortunately I have an terminal disease that compels me to play this game every 2 months or so and I’m tired of the same baboons unproductively screeching at CMs and each other in the forums in here, Discord, and Reddit, so I have an idea to fix at least one or more of the massive elephants in the room.

I’ll try and keep it short and sweet, maybe Fatshark will take at least something from this, keep in mind I’m typing this at like 11 PM so some of my term usage will make 0 sense. Please feel free to critique this as I’ve had this rolling in my skull for like 5 hours now and I need to get this out of my head so I can sleep.

Level cap increased to 40 - 50 (honestly it doesn’t matter what arbitrary cap is just make it higher)

  • Keep the skills trees the same if you want, but now it some nodes/points take more then one level to progress and have fractional stats if you only put 1 or 2 points into them (ex: 20%, 40%, 60% toughness regen)

  • This makes it harder to get max level for a character as it could require more exp to get max rank, makes it more rewarding, make character dialogue scale like this as well so you’ll get cooler dialogue as you level up like we did early on.

Keep the already existing base weapon stats (380 max, 80% etc.) HOWEVER, the cap for rarity that already exists in the game is now raised to meet that new increased level cap WITH A NEW ADDED LEVEL MINIMUM

  • If you are lv 10 for example you get like max of 310 for base weapon stats (I don’t remember what the exact stats are. Honestly you don’t need to change that from what it is now.) BUT NOW THERE IS A MINIMUM so if you are max level of 40-50 (again doesn’t mater what the new cap is) now you can only get base weapon stats 360 (or something slightly higher or lower idk) and above from ALL SOURCES (Melk, Brunt, Aftermatch drops, etc.)

  • This removes the issue of people at max level (so like almost everyone now) spending millions of credits on objectively inferior weapons (ahaha funni, i role 1000 lv 310 rarity grey weapons hehe hoho) that they are then forced to resell, and install a mod for that automatically does all of this to prevent severe cerebral hemorrhaging.

PLASTEEL IS USED TO INCREASE RARITY LEVEL OF WEAPON (GREY → ORANGE), DIAMANTINE IS USED TO CHANGE PERKS & BLESSINGS ON WEAPON

  • Self explanatory. It takes more material to change the guns you got, but if you have the materials and saved blessings, you can customize to whatever you want. Maybe (again you can change it to whatever idk ) have it like 200 → 400 → 600 → 800 → 1000 Plasteel to upgrade, and 200 Diamantine to change perks and 300 to change blessings. Obviously full customization of said gun with no locks.

  • Its costs a lot more, but parsecs better then the funni gacha mill of gun farming to be able to hit a desired breakpoint (seriously, it can literally be 1 singular point or blessing lv away between being able to 1 hit an elite or 2 hit it)

That’s it, I have no more thoughts on the subject, debate to your hearts content, hopefully FS will steal at least some part of this for the new update.

I personally don’t think your first idea will add much. It’s just more gatekeeping to prolong maxing your character. 30 levels is fine - characters are already powerful enough tbh by that stage.

I’d much prefer the game to encourage a player to level each of the four archetypes to lvl30 rather than put another 50 hours play time on their first (/each character). In my view, a lot more can be learned by understanding how to play each character to tier 5 standard than to get one to lvl 70-80 auric.

So if anything, I’d suggest making it easier to level your alts to 30 than dragging out one to a higher number. When you’ve done your 1st character, grinding through low levels with none of the key latent skills available is just pointless.

On the crafting changes: nothing new there mate I’m afraid. With time you see people re-write these same ideas in different ways, but they’re the same really. Just make it easier for us to get multiple high end weapons of our choice, with or without locks.

Am I in bizarro world or do those ideas contribute nothing to the game? Seriously more pointless number fluffing stats for more player creep, as if the current one doesn’t need sorting out. And a bunch of pointless ranks literally only console players care about (are you one? Anyone else uses true level mod or doesn’t care). Was this supposed to be your contribution to pointless posting?

1: i don’t owe you a damn thing, whoever you are. but i’ll tell you anyways.
2: he said these are all idea already on the forum, and since they suck he’s right to call the forumgoers dumb for having asked for 'em.
3: higher level caps won’t ever do anything, it’s just cope XP progression doesn’t imply skill, just time played. it’s a dumb request because it doesn’t do anything about what it wants to solve.
4: trying to force higher level weapons doens’t help either because then people will just get madder about bad blessings again. like the last one it’s just cope about not getting what they want right away.
5: this one’s just the “b’aaaaaw the locks” cope, again. won’t happen, won’t do anything, won’t stop getting posted by bad players that need to pretend their build will save them. everyone asking for it thinks they can choose to have a specific job and then blame everyone else when things fail for not supporting them.

and we all know the only role they pick is “killing specials to chase circles while everyone else is a meatshield”

  4. On the contrary, people have been asking to advance weapon progression. The game is in a standstill what gameplay progression is concerned and this is one way to do it.

  5. The locks are a terrible mechanic, though. And Fatshark has caved. They will rework Crafting. I’d argue what we got now wasn’t even their original vision, just the holdover they got done as an in-between step.
    Demanding your 40$ game has a full finished progression system isn’t outlandish, you know.
