Hotfix #18 (1.1.3)

Then get a +damage blessing in your unlocked slot. There’s like two weapons you need 2 +damage blessing on to kill armored enemies in one less hit on damnation and they both hit fast enough for it to be a spooky… 0.25 second difference? That is such a small save that it borderline doesn’t matter. You only need to meet breakpoints on slower weapons but they usually hit hard enough you only need one perk or blessing to meet it or to reduce kill time. Alternatively stack bleed so you don’t even need to meet breakpoints lol.

can’t. it’s locked. ruined.

Upgrade your weapons to orange before complaining a locked slot ruined it.

orange quality has nothing to do with it. it’s about the locks making any attempt at “crafting” a build into a slot machine game. I don’t live too far from a casino; I could go to one if I wanted to gamble as much as this game wants me to. I don’t want to have to wonder what rng is going to give me this time. I just want to build something and try it out for fun and get on with my life and my time.

With an orange weapon, only one of the slots for perks and blessings are locked. I understand the lack of experimentation being annoying, you need to play for a while to get enough blessings to do that with the RNG crafting. They absolutely need to fix that, start pushing a #FixCrafting hashtag instead of #BreakTheLocks. But saying that one locked slot ruined a weapon is inherently wrong.

being able to change one perk or blessing doesn’t make it better. You still need the other one to land to be what you want.

Also, complaining about people wanting to have some control over their build is absolutely bonkers. Why do you even care if somebody would rather have +dmg over +stam? There is absolutely no reason why a system needs to be in place to create roadblocks to gameplay in the extent they have.

The game is playing us more than we’re playing the game.

also we’re saying breakthelocks because that’s the bare minimum with the least amount of dev effort for them to make things better. I’ve advocated changing it to be like the athanor. Most people want something entirely different, but we’re settling for just the locks to change just so they actually do anything at all until we get a better system.

I agree that having a good amount of control over a build is important. But from my perspective, having a blank canvas of a weapon that allows you to change absolutely anything as much as you want will ruin the endgame for players with the current iteration of crafting.
Ideally, I would like to see a system where you can replace the first slot with anything you want, then it locks. The second slot is always changeable. The only way they can completely unlock a weapon is if they allow crazy amounts of customization like Deep Rock Galactic does, then it would make a bit more sense that way.
If we, as the playerbase, force a bad change onto the devs, we’ll just make ourselves worse off down the line. We need to push a complete rework of the system, not a half-assed one that takes time away from them fixing crafting altogether.

Well, the endgame for most people playing their previous title was just playing the game (after they already stacked their perfect weapons btw). Chaos wastes also helped. If people got bored of cata they could do cata3 and dwons on the modded realm.

Content and engagement is what will keep people, not rng crafting. If anything, there’s plenty of evidence that it’s actually pushing people away even though they like the base game.

Please fix the screen flashing when viewing the detailed stat screen on weapons, I’m sure its burning other people’s eyeballs.

While that is true, isn’t your argument that it would be easy to remove the locks, so they should since it would take much time? Wouldn’t it be faster for them to fix crafting altogether than to focus more resources on large content updates like that?

“fixing crafting altogether” would be a new system, and a new system needs to be coded and tested, art done on new ui, etc. They don’t have to do anything like that to remove locks. It would just be a simple coding and ui change, and it would help alleviate the player agency issue as well as a decent chunk from the timesink aspect. People also want shared resources to help with the latter too, so they feel their time played on one character can help contribute to others, like they did on their previous title.

Fatshark …
you know, darktide of the game content, it can not rely on mod authors alone ah
you say right?

At least the odds wouldn’t be stacked too heavily against you

They already tried that twice this last year. I doubt they’d end up with antyhing better, or that they’d be willing to scrap the current system. When they finally adressed the issue with crafting in VT2 they announced that they wouldn’t do any drastical changes because it was too late for it.

With that said I really wouldn’t mind if they went full Athanor, which is pretty much like Deep rock.

EDIT: at least there was. I just get a black screen now with loading icon after I swap presets. It wont let me do the inventory cycle. RIP
Is it not known how to work around it though?

Pretty sure you can swap presets as long as you open and close inventory with I (cycle it once)

@FatsharkCatfish could you ask the team to introduce a bug to allow people make the equipment they want? Like a glitch that removes lock?
It would give DT atleast 15% on steam

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.
