Yes, I have them, and that is sound advice, but I am not about to squander the Emperor’s Blessed Ammunition by mag dumping everything in front of me.
The Psykers Dome Shield, which I always have on my Spark’Ead, is especially useful because it allows all of us guardsman cosplayers to stand in it and fire at 'eretics without fear of being hit.
Voice of Command works fairly well for both smoothing out shooter spikes (as you said) and compensating for skill differences in the squad because it allows your friends to make a few more mistakes and play more recklessly before they are in real danger.
It is very noticeable when the squad lacks both, especially all those cute Smite Spark’Eads without the dome who get shot to smitherins while pretending to be Sheev Palpatine.
I play support-ish on all three characters (my Zealot is retired) because there always seem to be squads that don’t have the tools to survive for some reason, which I find strange given that the skill tree update gave us a variety of ways to build for survivability.
I suppose it’s similar to how everyone wants to play DPS but no one wants to play Healer in an MMORPG.
You want to participate in the discussions and share your own points of view instead of posting Gigachad memes, buddy?
Main reason i’m having a blast(especially with new ogrynheimer) is getting monster masses that were rare ever since doom megwads were a thing.
yesterday my pal and i were in a match when for the longest time we really had to bite through hordes to load up the ammo and it was the most enjoyable run in a long time.
sure, sometimes the game just want you dead on occasion without leaving you any option but tension like this is what i wish from auric maelstrom start to finish.
even when i wasnt really interested in warhammer as a franchise before, darktide really pushed all the buttons from design to sound and gameplay, and for me that means hordes.
when i bought a new gaming rig last year i only wished i opted for an i-9, since my i-7 doesnt like going beyond 15 ragdolls to maintain 144 fps.
but if i found a way to make every corpse stay on screen… i’d go shopping all over
as for balancing im glad they threw in a bit more threatening stuff like ragers and the like, for as fun as moving down a couple hundred poxwalkers is, mostly its for toughness refilling.
but the atmosphere and immersion when you are knee deep in nurgle is bar none and i wouldnt miss it for the world
Yeah its good, now just make rewards better on the lower difficulties so nobody players stop wasting their time on maelstroms.
I do hope they would fix some of the sound priorities tough. Hearing trappers only when its right next to your face is sometimes really infuriating, but you can hear 20 mutants regardless where they are and each of their footsteps like its nothing.
Crushers and other heavier enemies also just que up 20 heavy attacks behind you without making a single sound.
I honestly do like the Director more now, there are definitely moments where I’ve been like okay they just keep coming and it’s because we don’t freaking move and I realize now that being too slow and wasting ammo on infinite hordes is basically a death wish, also moments where ecspecially large hordes of elites definitely make me exhale on killing the last one in a particularly long wave
I think this works very well for damnation and auric. However, I do think it needs more tweaking. Just came out of a basic, no frills malice mission (which I normally use to grind out the last of Melk’s missions) that felt like a damnation Hi-Intensity Shock Troop Gauntlet.
The ragers, the hounds, the crushers, the flamers, the gunners, the trappers. Always in groups of at least two or three at a time when they spawned not counting the ones already patrolling. They just would not stop coming. It was incredibly fun but I don’t feel that the entire game at every difficulty needs to be like this.
I’d probably prefer individually tougher enemies but in less quantity than what it is right now. The time to kill is astonishingly low, and so the game is in absolute horde mode to keep the difficulty up.
HP and quantity is point. The only thing that’s lacking is a decent mix. Right now it’s mostly either or. I want not just a platoon of gunners or crushers. Mix them up with ragers, maulers and specials as well.
Maybe add a few bulwarks to break the deletion flow. Just remember to have a shtton of everything.
Auric should feel absolutely brutal. It’s still not fully there yet.
Flack armor on the back of the head and unarmored/unyielding on the inner bicep/armpit area would be good. Slightly weaker armor on the back of the head for flanking fire weakspot shots and exposed vulnerability on their highly telegraphed overhead attack would make them a more engaging enemy.
That has been my experience with the Malice Maelstrom missions after the AI director tweaks to maelstrom. Fun for me (like you I use low difficulty to grind out milk mission completes), not for the players who are content to stick to malice and are barely able to handle literally constant special spam on top of the already inflated elite numbers (which were supposed to have gone down with 14 but they seem to have given the AI director even more spawn tokens so that HP increase meant to impact the spawn cost basically did nothing for that problem except make even more, thicker elites).
Yes and no. 13 changes to the director were great… then 14 came around and over-buffed elite HP so now we have more elites that are also tankier (looking at you, ragers, with your 1.5x HP spawning 6-10 at a time).
They also seem to have had an increase to their stagger resistance, especially the dreg ragers (scab ragers are actually easiser despite having armor, no clue why). I’m talking a heavy hit and two slaps from my bully club didn’t stagger. You know, the thing that staggers chaos spawns and plague ogryns? (super funny by the way I hope they never change it, you eat sh-t if yo umess up the timing) The HP increase wouldn’t be so bad if I could just stagger them out of their attack chain but it is 50/50 even when whacking them with the highest stagger weapons and special attacks.
