Issue Type (Required):
Weapons
Issue Description (Required):
Did extensive testing with passives that give +Rending such as Veteran’s Rending Strikes and Onslaught, just saw that the charged shot has terrible damage scaling with +Rending to the point that the Plasma Gun charged shot benefits more from those buffs also an incredibly tedious issue is that the Charge resets when leaving ADS. Searched on this forum and there are only complains about the gun.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Test in Psykhanium with the gun and +Rending buffs
Reproduction Rate (Required):
Constant (100%)
Platform (Required):
PC - Steam
Are you sure that you know how rending actually works?
Considering that you report bad rending scaling as a bug.
Yes it has different outcomes depending on the weapon, im sure that its charged shot benefits +Rending the least compared to other weapons and the Plasma Gun charged attack (idk about staffs), so i decided to post it here as a Issue alongside the ADS Charge bug. edited the post to specify the rending issue is on the charged shot
It does not seem that you understand how rending works at all.
If an attack deals massively reduced damage against an armor type, that damage reduction can be ignored via rending.
If an attack already “penetrates” armor and barely has its damage reduced by any armor type, of course it won’t greatly benefit from rending.
The worse an attack is against armor, the more value you get from rending.
When you complain about bad rending scaling, you are basically complaining about an attack being too good against armor by default.

i find it an issue that it cant benefit more than the Plasma Gun, thanks for your explanation but i know how rending works, i’m not posting an issue about the Power Sword scaling with +Rending knowing it is very likely made intentionally
If that is your issue, either the plasma gun needs better armor penetration, or the helbore needs worse armor penetration.
Unless you want to buff the plasmagun and/or nerf the helbore, the only way to achieve this would be to buff the helbore’s damage against unarmored enemies, while keeping the armor damage as it is (or buffing it by a smaller amount).
With the way that rending works, weapons being affected differently is kinda the point.
I do not really understand your issue. If a weapon is already good against armor and gets no big benefit from rending, you are free to pick other talents.
honestly its not player friendly clearly the plasma gun is the heavier cleaving penetrating gun so might, probably not be a code bug but still need to appoint it as an issue, solving this as you said is to buff damage and lowering rending, or nerfing the plasma gun to have lower damage and higher rending, it’s a whathever case cause the gun really isnt really up to any expectations than disappointment
I think the important point here is that it is very likely a balance/design issue, and possibly not a bug.
The point is valid in itself, but that isn’t being contested.
