Heavy Melee Attack Charge Timing Resetting On Ability Key Input

Issue Type (Required):

Player Mechanics

Issue Description (Required):

I’ve noticed in this update I was getting different outputs on my mk. II Relic Blade than my muscle memory remembered prior to the update, so I went into the meat grinder to try and resolve if it was just me or if something changed.

I found that when I attempted a dash heavy hold > Shroudfield > release to headstab, I was getting dash lights instead. Testing further with Heavy 3 vertical uppercut > Shroudfield > release, if I activate my Ability while charging the move and then release too soon, I’ll get Light 3 horizontal (diagonal right to left) instead. I tested what would happen if I pressed Shroudfield with this timing while it was on cooldown and unable to activate, and even pressing the key while it was inert reset the Heavy charge timing and produced a light attack instead.

This behavior was found to happen consistently with both standing Heavy attacks as well as the mk. II Relic Blade’s dash Heavy > Shroudfield activation as well, seeming to reset its charge time even on an inert cooldown-state Ability key input.

Steps to Reproduce (Required):

  1. Make a Zealot with the mk. II Relic Blade and Shroudfield
  2. Perform Heavy attacks until you are charging one of the deeper ones, like Heavy 3 vertical uppercut.
  3. Hold charge on the Heavy attack.
  4. Activate Shroudfield and then release the attack charge almost immediately after.
  5. Rather than a vertical uppercut, a horizontal downward light attack should be seen to happen.

Addendum: This can be repeated with dash Heavy stab attacks, where the result after a quick Shroudfield input produces a horizontal dash Light instead of the thrusting dash Heavy. The Ability key input produces a light attack from heavy attack charge even when the ability is on cooldown.

happening with fury as well

I’ve been able to reproduce this bug with:

Zealot’s fury of the faithful and shroudfield

Psyker’s scrier’s gaze

Ogryn’s loyal protector

Veteran’s Infiltrate

Hive scum’s Rampage

Arbitator’s castigator’s stance

Basically any ability that doesn’t interrupt melee animations baseline. It’s very noticable on zealot given how those abilities work.
