Havoc is too inconsistent and buggy to warrant the current difficulty and the deranking system. Ever since the update to Havoc 2.0 it’s been a frustrating mess, we got reduced gunner spawns but in return every game you and your team are making a wisdom saving throw on every spawn tile throughout the map.
That’s literally how Havoc is balanced, there’s virtually no counterplay because you’re reliant on getting easy boss spawns. If you roll a natural 1 and get twin spawns with a chaos spawn on the tile that’s inside an enclosed space? That’ll be the end of your run in most cases, and now you’re demoting back down again. Even WoW added a safety against demoting when you clear up to a certain point, and that point in that game is infinitely more mangeable and consistent than a Havoc 30 or higher.
Most Havocs I’ve won are because we got lucky with not getting screwed over with boss spawns throughout the map when we step on the spawn tiles. Every high havoc clear, duo trio or otherwise, I’ve seen or done when the team isn’t going hard meta, is because we got lucky with the spawns and didn’t get suddenly rushed by twins and a BoN with a chaos spawn for good measure.
Genuinely I don’t understand how Havoc 2.0 is accepted being left the way it is. I’m already putting on my rose tinted goggles for Havoc 1.0 because I’ve never gotten as frustrated with it as I am with Havoc now. Hexbound DHs still spawn behind elevators, Poxbursters are completely silent again, can’t be pushed unless you have the aggro, and are now being pushed back into your team by an Arbitrator dog that just happened to be running by.
I really want Havoc to be fun to play again because Auric doesn’t do it for me anymore. But the only alternative is this buggy, frustrating mess that the more I think about how much potential it has, the more frustrated I get with how poorly and incompetently it’s being handled.
