Let’s be real here, it’s cheap BS, not ‘difficulty.’ Sorry to latch onto that but it’s a pet peeve of mine when people dignify buggy/broken/cheap BS as difficulty. In the absolute most technical sense it’s harder, in the same way it would be harder if there was an enemy that had a 50% chance to one shot you on hit. Would it be harder? Yep. Is it genuine difficulty? No.
Personally I’m angry at the removed content they had us long term players playtest for them (explodey tenticle heads and armoured hordes were fun imo) and then put them in super toxic mode only.
As for toxic mode itself I find it hillarious that (some) people are only accepting players in to teams if thier true level is high enough to be deemed worty of letting them carry the party leader who gains ALL the glory.
What I find even funnier is as someone whos played the game way too much I could get in to any team doing this (on my main at least, zero chance with my Ogryn) but am instead just going to quick play auric damnation like I do normaly. I have zero interest in this silliness but I am laughing that they didn’t see that one coming.
When the new modifiers get add (re-added I should say) to the game it will be nice but its so bad knowing they added content but locked behind a wall of toxicity and a more long winded method of starting a mission that promotes just hit quickplay and don’t get the new (pre existing but removed) content.
I have had exactly the same experience.
My main character is my veteran ‘Wahid’, who has by far the highest TrueLevel, but my strongest and best character for Havoc is my Zealot, who runs Chorus and Beacon of Purity, which is a strong counter to the Blight modifier.
Fatshark said they didn’t want to add an official scoreboard because it’s toxic, and instead they created a game mode themselves that is so ‘toxic’ that you need a competent premade (Discord) with the right loadouts as you go higher in ranks, otherwise (with randos) you will have a bunch of people dying on the first encounter.
Theoretically (I haven’t tried this mode yet), a rank decay system may help keep the patch tourists from ruining higher level runs in future patches, once the players who stick around between patches get through the initial grind.
The variables on the decay mechanic might need tweaking though, if it’s currently too aggressive.
also strong against bon corruption or general corruption from crushers overhead, 1 overhead from a crusher is usually 1hp and full 99% corruption in havoc as zealot, but thanks to beacon of purity helps with that.
i also agree that it basically forces a bit to use certain characters/loadouts
but it was cool using zealot with a different build, for example beacon of purity in fact, which is very rare to use in auric board.
This was my plan as well. Really, i dont see the point in playing havoc past that point. It is a bit of a shame too, because there are some decent modifiers in havoc but Fatshark in their infinite wisdom have them gatekept behind a trash RNG system. Anyway, im not going to reach havoc 40 by the time POE2 releases lmao
Its fine… it only drops ONE lvl per WEEK
People are acting like its reset to 0 per 5 days
While not gamebreaking, thats another straw on the back of metaphorical overencumbered camel. They had to go out of their way and use the pittance of manhours they have left between their mandated holidays to poke the playerbase yet again for no other reason but to annoy them
