Havoc committment

I find myself playing the normal or Auric board a lot recently, despite wanting to play Havoc modifiers.
I wonder if any of you also feel this way regarding time and havoc committments?

My available playtime is very sporadic and random and sometimes I need to cut it short.

Due to the weight of losing and demotion in havoc, I now don’t bother unless I know I have hours of uninterrupted time.

I think this shows yet another example of why the demotion system is a bad idea.

You need a solid hour spare to play a h40 game and I don’t want to risk leaving a team in the lurch with an unfillable team spot or ruining someone’s game unfairly.

There is just too much pressure on rank when all we want to do is play the higher difficulty and modifiers freely.

My previous suggestion on a pretty easy fix is still relevant imo: Proposal for a more engaging havoc advancement system

i guess fatshark mistook enjoying the singular modifiers (moebian 6th/tentacles) with ambition to keep an decaying number up over weeks.

these by themselves worked cause you could hop in anytime with whatever class you wanted, perform well and call it a day.

having this “dangling thing” moving away from me doesnt make me want to “catch up” it rather makes me say fkkit it play something else.

shame, as the core components are great.
get rid of mandatory loadouts (adjust range damage)
get rid of demotions
make it a normal (third) map table

and i’ll play some couple matches a day.

not one 40 a week to meet the quota

i said this a few times. it’s nothing for when you have free time now and then, and it makes for an uneasy game where people are more eager to blame each other in case of a loss.

I’d just like to apologise to the crew I was playing a H40 game with. We were doing so damn well. One of those “well oiled machine” missions.

Got practically to the obscura den and my game crashed (first time it’s ever done so mid-havoc-game) and then had to answer an important phone call.

By the time I loaded back up there was no option to rejoin match. Was going so well so I’m really sorry if I screwed the mission :pensive:

There needs to be a pause option on havoc. Needing a full interrupted hour without any chance to stop is kinda crazy.

Any way I’m super sorry to that crew. It was immensely fun and they will probably never choose to play havoc with me again. Urgh.

you go from saying you need “hours” of time to saying an H40 game takes 1 hour.

I don’t see how you want to play high difficulty but then leave your team at all, especially when they can’t replace you with the current system. This is meant to filter out unwanted players so I guess it’s just not the mode for you when you’re pressed for time.

Thanks for the passive aggressive semantics. Super useful to the discussion.

Again, what?!

So if your daughter wakes up crying from her sleep during your high difficulty game, then you must not leave the game and totally ignore her. Or you get an important work call mid-game? Or *insert any important life event here happens mid-game?

Cool advice bro.

You must be salt of the earth.

Perhaps read what my entire post was about before barging in with incoherent replies that could literally be answered by the op you’re responding to.

 That hurts on a Havoc especially when everything is going golden!

I dont think thats really viable in a game like this.
Havocs are not made for a quick game here and there much like Chaos Wastes on V2.

Martigan, I fully agree.
The demotion system combats the leavers and rejoiners pretty well, but man, the price is too steep.
Add to it the atrocious party finder and there you go. I fired up the game few times already to play Havocs with randoms and just gave up on party finder alone. Bear in mind, I have lvl 40 clearance and even put my True Survivor in the name to flex as I’ve noticed that it boosts the acceptance rate tremendously.
So all-in, you have a significant time investment, risk of demotion and picky party finder. The conclusion writes itself.
Seriously, once you reach 40 you should get as the reward the “There is only Havoc” where you can host your own match with own modifiers on the map you like…

I actually feel the opposite. I don’t like a lot of the Havoc modifiers. Blight just feels like someone is forced to bring beacon of purity. Pus hardened just forces me to play melee builds when I may want to play ranged focused builds.

Cranial and moebian 21st are fine.

I would rather see melee enemies only and no ammo, monstrous specials, extra barrels, etc. in Havoc.

Ontop of this, actually getting a Havoc msision started is annoying. Can take up to 10-15 minutes depending on how anal the host is. Hosting yourself is an option, but if you don’t feel like playing the map you have, or if you want the “help others” penance, you’re out of luck.

Just very annoying if you want to just play two or three games and you know you’ll be spending almost half an hour within the partyfinder system. That’s not quality time spent. Other games have lobbies without this issue. DRG is a good example.

Fatshark’s previous games are a good example too.

Played 1 havoc game.
Won. Rank 13.
Queued a few times after that . Got bored after 10 minutes waiting so played regular instead.

Never been back. Not worth my time for the shinies. And I’m with brosgw, the modifiers don’t excite me.
