Happy 2nd Anniversary!

To avoid to ruin the games of others… if I want to test something, better to launch a solo game.
If I need to finish a penance, better to launch a solo game like that I won’t see a rusher or a a PG player that will kill all elites/special before I have the time to use BB on them…

There are many reasons to start playing solo…
As an example, yesterday I have met a rusher. An other player, zealot, could follow him. The vet and me (playing as psyker) were far away of them, taking all spawns in the face. Then I have fall on floor. I have said him, “don’t come to revive me, I am bored of this rush. I will just wait the end of the mission”, We were close to the end.
After this great experience, I have felt the mood to play solo.

If solo mode implementation is Cadia, then I’ll be the guard.

Well for that you don’t need bots, but I assume most people asking for solo mode want bots to be a thing, programming wich takes resources. They want some sort of surrogate of coop experience.

I would prefer for devs to focus on making coop better than wasting time on that surrogate.

If completing penances implies you can ruin some games, means either pennances or ingame social and coomunication tools are poorely designed. Or both.

Rushing exists is a balance problem.

But as I said, my subjective opinion is irrelevant here. Solo mode is just another example how Fatshark don’t see such silence is disrespectful. Or they do and still choose doing nothing.

Personally I’d just like to turn bots off and play actually true solo, with progression for penances. Not even MMT will let you do this (unless you’re one of the chosen few who have access to the private mod that allows you to do it)

One of my main grievances with the bots still being in MMT is by the way that they chug the hell out of performance when all 3 of them are chained up. No, I don’t know why it happens either.

The mod is for solo mod and only it.

MMT allow you to start a mission that is not on the mission selection screen.
But with solo mod, there are mods that complete it. One of them permits to get rid of bots.
But none of them permits you to remove disablers (dogs, trappers).

Oh I agree… If this was not easy to give the solo.
We have private games. We actually need to be 2 to go private. However, you can team at 2, launch the mission and one of the teammate can leave.
So, in fact, devs don’t need to spend time on this. They can just modify the number of players needed to go private and change the 2 to a 1.
So, not a big work… It should not impact the development of the game.

Sidenote: there are a lot of bugs that need simple fixes and that fatshark doesn’t implement. I advice everybody that can to use enhanced description new version. In it, the author points the existing bugs on talents and blessing. My favorite is the rending psyker talent that does… nothing

Nah, you can disable bots with a mod in MMT missions, but the mod is gatekept

My god, no need for solo mode, it is a coop game, get over it.
Yes, it is bad that they promised (an unnecessary feature) something and then they went silent about it, but is it really what this coop game needs?

Here are the reasons:

  • It was promised and sold with the assurance that such a feature would exist.
  • It does not require much work; in fact, it only requires pressing two keys: [Backspace] to delete a 2 and [1] to change the number of required players to go private.
  • It would allow players to complete private penances and also public ones that annoy everyone (for example, I completed the Smite penance mostly solo).
  • There are so many toxic and non-cooperative players that you will encounter them soon enough. In fact, in 70% of the games I play, I see zero cooperation.
  • We have no in-game mechanics to punish rushers, such as a toughness regeneration penalty for rushing, which would often result in them ending up on the floor (and that would be great, but sadly, we don’t have such feature).
  • It would allow players to test, train, or even play the way they want.
  • Every other Tide game has this feature. Every other co-op game has it.
  • The possibility exists with mods, but for the one that allows solo play with progression (many more try), they will eventually break it.
  • Console players cannot use mods, adding to the point above.
  • How would such a change impact you?

Enough points to justify a solo mode.

Pretty sure this game’s greatest strength is lack of solo mode.

and the block list being limited to only 50 people is its Achilles’ Heel.

Considering how many guys I would like to block… it should be multiplied by 10.

remember that one time you promised something , and it turned out you couldnt do it and 2 years later the psycho gf is still dragging your nuts over the fire for it…

i wish Fs would just come out and kill this just sledge hammer down between the eyes , they aint taking the hint you need to spell it out.

My friend also put it in a really funny way:

I love the position you put them in:

  • Either they continue to ignore you and lose face with the growing community that recognizes you.
  • They say “we lied it’s never coming!” And then they lose face for not admitting it earlier.
  • They ban you cuz they’re tired of seeing you and then they lose face for banning someone not directly attacking or hurting anyone
  • Or they say it’s still in development and then lose face cuz they’ve been so tight lipped and anti bot solo mode yet they’ve apparently still been working on it

Ralendil covered the majority of the points so I’d like to use one of my favorite analogies for this situation. Halo is a game focused on the single player campaign, it always has been their focus. They’ve also always had matchmaking on the side, but their primary purpose was telling a story through the campaign. If they released a Halo game with no matchmaking, told you it was planned and right around the corner, and 2 years later just kept telling you it was “not a priority”, I know you’d complain. This franchise that’s always been playable with other people suddenly doesn’t let you, and all the Solo players keep telling you “my god, no need for matchmaking, it is a solo game, get over it” would you say “yeah, fair, alright then.” or would you say “but every other halo game let me play online with my friends and random people in PvP! And they promised to add it!” because I’m 90% sure I know what the vast majority of the people who say “no need for solo mode, it’s a coop game, get over it.” would say.

Sorry I didn’t get to you in the last reply, I actually misread your post and thought you said the greatest weakness was a lack of solo mode.

So, I would like you to explain how a feature that’s been in: Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Vermintide, Vermintide 2, Killing Floor 2, Helldivers 2, World War Z, Back 4 Blood, GTFO, and Risk of Rain 2 (lumping all of these as “kill the horde” games), being removed from this one specific game, somehow makes it better?

Edit: and would you mind answering these other questions?

  • does the inclusion of Solo Mode make those games worse?
  • if yes, how?
  • if no, then why does not having it make Darktide better?

This, so much this. Solo play needs to be put into Darktide. I do however hope that Fatshark will introduce better/smarter bots for when they do decide to introduce Solo play.

You can go and play solo with mod.
If you want to play solo go and play it.
Considering how long it will take for fatshark to relise any kind of content i would like to say that your solo play officially are not that impщrtant or worth anything. But this is still people\hours spend on ussles thing insted of content that every one else plays.

Oh? Gatekept by who? why? FS clearly has zero issues with any mods, so why gatekeep it?

If the mod kills bots in server-hosted games, it breaks at least one part of the modding policy:

Using mods that directly affect unmodded players’ experience of the game

Probably treads dangerously close to the following too:

Using mods that affect the stability/performance of the game service.

Thanks for being inclusive towards our console players including future PS5 players. /s

I’ll let Ralendil take this one:

So, clearly lots of time and effort to provide the minimum requirement to satisfy solo players for all platforms.

Edit: if someone can give me a legitimate reason as to why solo mode should not be added and why it would be detrimental to the game if it was, then I will take down this thread and issue a public apology to Fatshark for my persistent actions in requesting solo mode and buy that person a $25 Steam Gift Card. I am that confident that there’s no legitimate reason for them to never add solo mode and that adding it won’t be detrimental to the game.

This kind of attitude is why players want solo mode. Why would I want to be in a match with such blatant toxicity?
