Gunker needs more toughness replenish

Toughness replenish talents of new psyker tree are too weak and only sutable for staff build. I can’t imagine why fatshark nerf mettle from useful talent to such a rubbish. Enemy only needs one hit to clear up gunker’s toughness, but gunker needs over 5 seconds to replenish. 3months ago ,I’ve used gunker to play dual psyker pass havoc 40 in last version. However, in this version my gunker even have no way to survive from two plasma gunners. One shot toughness go down, two shots psyker lie down. More damage but poor survival only makes gunker relying on bubble more.

Genuine question because I haven’t been able to log in since the update.

Are you not meant to like… dodge those? I would have expected taking two plasma shots in a row is supposed to mess you up?

Definitely noticed the nerf to mettle, not sure why psykers needed any nerfs to toughness gen.

Nothing survives 2 plasma gunners

This is the ultimate nerf to plasma gun, giving several to the enemy at once.

Purely from the melee psyker perspective: changes to Mettle were basically a nerf. So was removal of the Endurance talent under SG.

In general instant toughness regen on few other talents has been replaced by time based regen, which is also a clear nerf.

It was integrated into the base ability, no? SG also got a passive toughness replenishment at 2.5%/s, which isn’t much, but it can stack with other sources of toughness%/s.

For rapid fire weapons - probably, so that Psyker doesn’t have means of immediate toughness restoration by just applying <more gun>, which is probably for the better. Everything else that wasn’t using crits consistently/deal them at a rapid rate benefits from these changes somewhat - like say Bolt pistol or Stub revolver.

Yeah. I just realised it.

10%for 4 seconds is so poor. 5%per second should be a line

I wouldn’t be so sure, honestly. In general, over-time toughness restoration is a good thing, this is part of the reason why vet’s Confirmed Kill is so good. Because, normally, you operate with your toughness around 100%, at least you should struggle for this all the time, it’s a core design principle in this game for all classes/builds. And all that extra toughness you replenish through kills and hits while being full on it, is lost. Over-time replenishments turns it into regen effectively, and if your toughness will take a hit after you triggered one of those talents, this damage will be repaired and your tougness gain won’t be lost.

It’s important to have both instant and over-time replenishment talents.

So far, I don’t understand how Mettle now works actually. I see stack icon appearing for it, but it’s probably only related for movement increase? With vet’s Confirmed Kill you get a separate source of toughness regen for each elite/special you kill, so you have separate icons with different timers counting down. What about Mettle? If you do several crits in a row with an interval of 1-2 seconds, will all of them be restoring your toughness separately? Or will it be just one “10% per 4 seconds” effect, constantly refreshing.

This is the question we need answered, to undrestand how good it is now.

It be the latter - it’s a unique buff that you can only refresh.

Endurance is now part of default Scrier’s. Toughness regen per sec for Scrier’s is new too. Melee Psyker is stronger than ever right now, thanks to how Warp Expenditure interacts with high swing speed weapons.

Yea, me personally, I didn’t feel fragile at all, when I did my regular melee test vs 20 brawlers in simulation. On the contrary, I was able to dispose them much faster and with less damage taken than before. So at least vs chaff Psyker seems to be in a good spot. It’s alarming that they increased HP pools for all elites it seems, to balance the powercreep. So not sure how killing them will feel now.

Overall, I would suggest to playtest your builds for couple weeks, before starting to jump to conclusions.

I‘ve already tested in havoc 40 more than 10 games. Sincerely, every strike of havoc melee enemy will clean up all my toughness. And I have no way to resplenish quickly so that i can hardly survive from the other gunners.

It just seems to me more like a Havoc problem, and its bs level of difficulty. Hardly the rest of the game has to be balanced to Havoc 40, it should be the opposite.
