A very insightful post. I love getting those little behind the scenes infos, and it is a clear indication of the passion behind the development that is usually lost in the muck of buggy mess and scummy monetization practices.
Looking very much forward to those new weapons. :+1:

And I honestly expect Veterans will actually get an LMG weapon class before the end of next year.

Nice one. Any plans to make the force weapons, perhaps the 2hander in particular, highly effective against daemons like they are in a lot of 40K lore?

I’m thinking thunderhammer-against-monstrosities-levels of effectiveness, but against daemons specifically (so far only the Plague beast and Daemon host).

Man this is some great stuff, I love that Greatsword special. I can’t wait to use it in solo mode

Oh…
Wait…

Reposting since someone flagged it as spam and a CM removed it. When it doesn’t contradict the community guidelines in any reasonable way. I’m contributing to the discussion, the weapon stuff looks great but I can’t use it in solo mode. I’m being agreeable, even though I disagree with the lack of solo mode. I’m not flaming, or trolling. I’m being civil. It’s related to the topic. So if someone wants to re-flag this, and the CM who took it down wants to DM me and explain exactly how I’m breaking the community guidelines, I’d appreciate it

I’d like to say I did not flag it or remove it :+1: I don’t personally moderate the forums much anymore, unless I see a topic getting out of hand.

I agree you’re being civil! I’m guessing, if it was flagged and removed, it might’ve been where the message was quoted to look like it came from the original post, rather than writing out your own message. Which makes it confusing for anyone not looking closely.

Haha, I didn’t think it was you. I said “CM” removed it, but it actually said “staff member”.

And the one with a quote was a different post, which didn’t get flagged. You all have been great sports about my Solo Mode crusade thus far, so I’m sure this one was mainly a fluke.

My question is simple.

Why did it take over two years for this weapon to get added when it was in the game files since Day #1 of Beta #2? All you guys did was change the skin. How did it take two years for it to get added?

Port priority, then system rework priority, then putting out the fires priority.

As someone who lives on class 1 (psyker) I want to say that I hate to see melee weapons added to a magic class, and not some new one, but just a two-handed version. I have enough melee weapons to choose from and have fun, I have no problem with creating a melee build, but I’m not interested in playing it because I’m a PSYKER motherfucker.
Even though I don’t play as an ogrin, but seriously another machine gun, but a stronger one? Knuckles add what’s on the minis, or any melee weapons in there?
And why is veteran only next year, how is it worse than all the others?
Of the weapons that will be added I accept as new only the two-handed weapon on Zealots. Everything else is just a bone to fall behind and not complain that there are no new weapons.
It’s disgusting

Bro ok sure, but also it’s a moonlight greatsword come on. A melee weapon with a projectile seems pretty novel to me.

Yep, stole my idea for a capacitor-type mechanic.

Oh and “next year”. Again. Left out with jack crap until some developer finally gets their butt in gear long enough to reskin an existing item. Not like there aren’t entire bloody codex’s of weapons they could use. How long have we been asking for a freaking Long-Las? Just literally a Mk 12 with an actual scope (hello assets ALREADY IN GAME), a lucius’s punch minus the idiotic charge up, and a slower rate of fire. To say nothing of the more exotic stuff like plasma pistols, meltas, needlers, etc. Mind you the first has shown up in the hands of every single assassination mission end boss.

Maybe instead of rushing this junk out like you did the talents you could stop, get something for EVERY DAMN CLASS done and use the extra time to fix the two dozen new bugs made before actually releasing it.

Nah. Why do something right the first time when you can half-ass it.

Not like they didn’t do this exact same bull with the talent trees. Everyone else got a nice polished tree with all the goodies in place. Veteran got a bunch of nerfs, a bunch of “well it doesn’t actually work like it says it does”, and no cap stones. Then it took them five or six patches to fix the huge screw ups. And its still a second-class work compared to the others.

If this move counts as a warp attack oh boy that’s like 30% of the reason I run assails and I can see more left and center leaning melee heavy psyker builds in my future.

For two years? Beta #2 went live in Nov 2022, its 2024, dude. This weapon has been in the game files since then. Its been sitting in there unfinished for twenty four months. You cannot convince me that porting the game took two years when Fromsoft, then a much smaller studio as well, ported Dark Souls to PC, something they’d never done before, three months after its initial PS3 release. System reworks didn’t take precedence over the crap power mauls and bully clubs.

The fact this game launched with 77 weapons, but only 43 of them were unique was the problem. This would have been a great bone to throw to the players when the playerbase went from…idk, 110k to 5.2k?

Weapons aren’t just made of models, there is animations, SFX, balances and such that need to happen.

Veteran is STILL worse than in the original power layout where Vet natively got ammo back instead of needing to waste multiple skillpoints to include it in every single build or it’d neuter the entire ammo hungry class.

Yeah, I guess that takes TWO YEARS TO DO.

Meanwhile, Mass Effect 3 launched in 2012 with DLC updates that lasted for a single year before all updates ended, in a multiplayer mode that wasn’t originally planned for the game, where they ended up with a total of 63 unique weapons, added at a rate that would make Fatshark cry to say the polite and PG rated insult. Simp for them all you want. The fact that there still isn’t a longlas, still isn’t a melta gun, no volkite gun, no heavy bolter for the ogryn, no power fist for the ogryn, no hellgun, and the fact that one of the most iconic weapons is, a plasma pistol, is STILL NOT IN A 40K GAME is unacceptable.

63 unique weapons after a year vs…maybe now barely close to that, if we count some of the unique firing mode weapons? Oh, 61 of those weapons were unique. I’d say nearly a third of Darktide’s weapons are reskins.

And your excuse for this unsatisfactory performance is “it takes a while to make an animation.” BS of the highest order.

Even with 40k years, we won’t see Volkite here.

Ogryn Power Fist it’s debatable.

I’m not saying that as in animation take time, but as in datamining a cosmetic shape doesn’t mean that a weapon is ready to be added.

I do wonder by what approval process they were able to show off the 2h sword pre-release in trailers, but then werent able to implement it for 2 full years.

2h Force Sword ?

In the Psyker Psykinetist Spot light we see both the Deimos FSword, and the Heavy Sword, but not the 2h Force.

Both Deimos and Heavy not being available at the time of that Spotlight.
