Great game play, terrible systems

the game play, rhythm, mechanics and maps in this game are amazing the combat is some of the best I have ever played and each character(at higher levels) has it role to play.

But, this is not enough to keep me playing the game and that reason comes down to gameplay systems such as progression, weapons, cosmetics and mission rewards.

progression
other than levelling and getting feats there is no progression.
there is no visual or gear related items that are directly tied to the completion of missions. the money I earn in missions cant get me any cosmetics worth getting that put my efforts above others such as it does in monster hunter and other titles.

there is no reason to upgrade my gear as the rewards I get for higher ranked missions are still just money and recourses which I already have more than enough of as there is nothing worth spending it on this is a broken cycle that is self defeating.

there is no core reason to build the strongest character I can as the rewards for higher ranked missions ultimately give me access to the same things as lower ranked missions as it is just money to spend in the same shop for the same things.

fixes:
always give the player a gear or cosmetic reward at the end of each mission and have the rarity tied to the mission rank/difficulty

let players buy premium cosmetics using in game mission earned money. I understand that a live service game gives you continues revenue that then lets you make more regular updates and grow the FS team and I would still continue to buy some cosmetics but some I would also earn and that is the key difference and actually makes me value the cosmetic more if I have earned it.

you would still have a leaver to regulate how many people use the cosmetics store by increasing the in game currency earned through missions to purchase the cosmetic item or let people convert currencies(you FS control the exchange rate).

honestly I love the game I just want more reason to play it and at the moment there is no key purpose behind doing missions and gaining power.

Definitely not the first time someone has mentioned this and a similar fix. A lot of people are here complaining about this. I think the best thing they can do first to add a reason to keep playing is add a scoreboard while they make new changes to the failed core systems. A scoreboard offers good endgame cus im vermintide the only reason i played after i had red items on everyone was to beat my scores.

Scoreboards are not endgame. The stats they offer are mostly meaningless in a 4 person co-op experience where no two runs may be the same.

I agree with you to an extent. I think a board is still nice to measure individual performance of different builds and loadouts though. I realize that not all runs are created equal, but more information is always better than less when measuring performance. I would be satisfied even with an individual scoreboard shown only to me about my stats that run.

Maybe its meaningless to you and your satisfied with just completing maps but ive beaten every damnation map so many times beating the level itself is meaningless to me.

Good way to get false positives trying to gauge your build and equipment since you usually can’t control what your team brings to the table. Your fancy new sword might not get a chance to hit hardly anything when someone rolls through 90% of the enemies with a power sword or void strike staff before you get to them or otherwise only put a few hits in yourself.

Fair point. I don’t buy that the scoreboard breeds toxicity though. I’m not sure i really see the reason not to implement it if its already in the game and barely takes any dev resources… I’m one of those people who lives and dies by numbers so I appreciate a good scoreboard at the end of a match.

Not true at all. The stats can be very meaningful to the performance of a build. Its far easier to test what a build is doing if you can see kills, damage done/taken, etc, in reference to the whole.

Unless you don’t get kills because someone kills them all first. Not all weapons are designed for or have equal killing power in this game.

That’s why I included etc. Things like revives, saves, staggered enemies, damage blocked, toughness granted to teammates are in that category.

Same results for the etc. Matches aren’t played in a vacuum, but we’re going in circles. Like these scoreboard conversations always wind up.

Instead of trying to go in circles, you might try engaging. Personally, I don’t see how every match being different hurts scoreboards. The idea is to gauge an approximation over a few matches. If I am consistently performing in a certain way, in a variety of team comps, then it sounds like my build is achieving its goal. More information > Less is my personal belief in all of this.

From my perspective, it seems like you think that the scoreboard is meaningless because other people on your team will influence your performance on it with their own builds and skills.

If you play exclusively with bots, which will come at some point, then immediately you have a slightly more consistent experience if you do feel like trying to compare runs.

Sometimes scoreboards are nice just to better illustrate how the run went. “Gee it felt like I killed a whole lot more than usual, I wonder how many more?” Scoreboard.
Statistics are nice to have even without them being particularly useful or relevant, not sure why we have to hold back at least personal stats.
