Glad Ogryn got the buff he needed

I’d strongly suggest ignoring them TBH. That is toxic behaviour and pretty childish.

It’s useful for the team but the scoreboard doesn’t consider this or other players roles or abilities. Abstract data is just abstract. Hence my comment about scoreboard.

There are even very organic variables like if people see they are playing with a long range ogryn spammer then they might move to more of a support role. Another thing the abstract data doesn’t reflect.

My view is that if I can consistently generate this kind of unusual data, it would at least prove that there is currently a major imbalance, a fact that should already be widely acknowledged. Right now, Ogryn from any playstyle can do this, even the teamplayer taunt build.

That’s exactly what happened in the original post. After I swap to PBB, the vet actually changed his build, saved a lot of ammo for me (which I really appreciated), you can tell by the amount of ammo used.

But this very sense of cooperation in the game is increasingly lacking, whether it’s future patches or some forum users, all encourage people to go their own way. It seems like everyone just wants to compete over “muhhh, my number is bigger.”

Making PBB work for the rumbler was a mistake. Could have, as an example, excluded weapons with a 1 round magazine. Never would have had this problem.

That claim is just wrong. Players in the Chinese community are just as confused as to why Fatshark keeps buffing already braindead-strong PBB builds patch after patch. Honestly, if someone came out and said Ogryn was a weak class, people would just laugh at them.

They kinda dug themselves into this hole with how they made the ability, the GUN ability only working with specific GUNS is simply bad design, and deliberately limits options just because they chose to design it in a way that doesnt make everything sane

To my surprise, some guy with Community Hero tag actually thinks there’s nothing wrong with Rumbler, just because “ammo” is a limitation.

It isn’t—it’s an Ogryn weapon, so ammo isn’t an issue at all, let alone after future updates.

Most of the time, I don’t even need to use PBB, it offers far less survivability than Rush or Taunt. They have absolutely 0 idea how ridiculous it is that “Back Off!” lets Ogryn get a free Rumbler shot every f*cking few seconds, and you can fire it twice in a row. And this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the real problems.

That’s why I’m willing to bet, that even after over 6 months of abusing Ogryn’s broken mechanics, even I’m just coming straight to the forum to show off, I still won’t have any concerns.

The echo chamber effect on forum, especially caused by some players who lack both neutral language and self awareness, really making others believing that Ogryn is even remotely close to being a “weak” class. What shall i do?

You misread my post. I said Rumbler is fine and not very impressive in isolation. This means when you have zero talents selected and are using the weapon out of the box.

People love to argue with strawmen :joy:

And you’re playing woth words, I could also say that Inferno isn’t very impressive in isolation, because without warp power it’s just a metal staff.

Yet when people talk about Inferno, they automatically assume it’s a fully built Psyker used to “burn everything to the ground.”

Discuss “isolated weapon” only, especially class specific weapons, without considering situations where they are used by those classes, is pointless.

And the Rumbler is a weapon exclusive to Ogryns. When discussing how powerful this weapon is, simply saying “the Rumbler is okay since it’s ammo can limit it” while completely ignoring the fact that “Ogryns can bypass this ammo limit” is a neutral language in itself.

But I’ll keep enjoying this neutral language.

I didn’t say the Rumbler was okay in its current state when taken in the full context of what Ogryn is capable of when using it. I recommend that you stop putting words in my mouth. Additionally, please adjust the tone of your posts. You are in violation of the forum’s rules regarding civility.

I pointed out that in a post about Ogryn’s problem, you only mentioned that “Rumbler in isolation is fine and not very impressive.” without discussing how Ogryn affects it, which is in itself misleading.

Hey mate, as I mentioned a long time ago, I’m a chinese dude living in europe, a typical ESL speaker. What I’m saying now is a direct translation based entirely on my cultural customs, if you feel that anything I’ve said has hurt anyone’s feelings, please let me know, and I’ll consider editing my post.

here’s his post you quoted

is this not exactly what he says? you realize just because you cut out one sentence of the post it doesn’t mean the post ignored context right. he literally says that using it on a melee build limits its power heavily, so it’s not the rumbler standalone that is an issue, it’s how it interacts with the talents. so how is he “not discussing how Ogryn affects it”

when people try to misrepresent quotes on a forum where you can literally just go and check what the original post and context was, it’s my pet peeve. let me ask you, did you get confused, lost in your own argumentation, and misremember what the full post was saying? or did you intentionally try to paint it as certain way?

Please refer to the forum guidelines and then compare them to your own comments over the past few days: Forum Guidelines

Specifically the section on “being agreeable even when you disagree”. For example: quoting a part of my comment, taking it out of context, referring to me as “low skill” and your (incorrect) interpretation of my opinion as “a joke” is clearly not “agreeable” behaviour. I am confident this is the case in your culture as well.

Let me use the example from the article to refute this point: if you use the Inferno as a melee Psyker’s sidearm, it also performs poorly.

Imagine raising this point in a discussion thread on Inferno.

Thank you for pointing that out. Please give me a little time to revise it into more neutral language.

i think it’s a good point. the distinction wether the weapon is inherently overtuned/gamebreaking mechanically vs talent interactions elevating it to that point

especially because rumbler is in fact a fun sidearm to use for a pure melee build. does it deserve to be nerfed there too? that’s why the distinction matters, it’s to find out the root cause of the issue and addressing it there to have minimal spillover changes.

also worth noting that the broader context of his post was discussing with someone else how the upcoming talent changes may affect the rumbler performance. he didn’t like out of nowhere make this distinction.

Yes infinite cleave and infinite ammo, especially on range weapons (as it is in the case of Rumbler) are problematic for balance, especially in high enemy density, and with abilities like PBB. Even Pickaxes with their too high Cleave and Power values are not healthy for balance, despite the user actually taking “some” risks for being in melee range. One shot kill ratio on Pickaxes is just insane, even in high Havoc. It’s too easy to just power through lines of enemies instead of actually engaging in melee.

What’s new here? Power creep will continue until we ran out of builds and weapons which require more than just looking vaguely in the direction of the next enemy pack.

So, lore accurate.

Let me set aside any sarcastic or unfriendly remarks and discuss this with you seriously. Even without any Ogryn talents, the Rumbler still outperforms virtually any other ranged weapon: a 10 meter blast radius, 40 vulnerability, automatic targeting of bosses and Ogryn enemies with 15% damage bonus, not to mention widespread suppression and knockouts. With its damage alone, it can easily take down groups of Auric elite, not hordes, but elites.

It can do things that many other classes’ grenades can’t. And it actually comes with a full 30 rounds of ammunition—not 10, 20, but 30.

Not to mention that the Ogryn can easily overcome its few limitations: reload speed and lack of ammo.

So, yes, even if it’s rude, I still think the idea that Rumbler shouldn’t be fixed in a patch is pretty funny.

Ah ah ah, what i just said?

If we want to be lore accurate, considering how strong we are, we should be fighting those damn chaos space marines already.

for the record, i never said i agree with it specifically, only that on principle it’s a valid angle to discuss. i also think the rumbler has inherent issues that need to be cleaned up, most of all the infinite cleave. it’s still an angle worth inspecting and discussing because it’s case by case.

there ARE weapons that are totally fine on some builds and not inherently broken on others. it’s fair to bring up this angle in a discussion about how a weapon should be balanced, even if i don’t necessarily agree with the conclusion he came to.

i don’t think he said this. how i interpret his words is that he’s discussing how to best fix it, not excusing it’s performance.
