Give human shotguns more cleave

I think giving their regular shots more cleave to hit several targets at a time would make them a bit more viable, even counting the buffs they received as of Patch 14.

That and more ammo, I also think human shotguns should have drum magazine like the scab shotgunners have.

Yeah I feel even just boosting the ammo pool even further could lend a hand, if anything.

from a gun perspective its really bizarre that 40k years from now we’d be using pump action shotguns, they are already more of a novelty,
and before anyone comes along trying to tell me 40k is a setting in regress, yes from the age of strife not the 1800s

Agreed. They even have a “hitting multiple targets” blessings so you think they would be a little bit better at cleaving.

Good point. Maybe they’re just dirt cheap to mass supply? Could just be a lore inconsistency too.

The rule of cool lords all over all decision making in 40k.

Submit to the rule or be doomed to a life of mild perturbation.

The human shotguns in the game are all semi-automatic, you don’t rack the slide after every shot. You only rack it after you finish reloading or after you insert a special round. The pump would technically let you use low-power specialty ammo without breaking a shooting stance, as per the SPAS-12. In reality though, they probably have a pump just because it’s instantly recognizable and very iconic to shotguns in general.

Now, there’s certainly much to be said about how often you rack the slide unnecessarily after a reload, but that’s a problem for the animators and weapons guys to figure out.

As for adding more cleave, the shotguns are in a generally decent spot at the moment. Your standard ammo isn’t generally supposed to mulch a horde, the Lawbringer has the wide spread alt ammo and the Kantrael has infinite cleave incendiary alt ammo. The Agripinaa is the odd one out, but more than makes up for it with it’s ability to clear shooter hordes while keeping the benefits of high stagger to deck elites and specials.
