General Hive Scum Gameplay/Strategy Discussion

It absolutely is, it didn’t start feeling good until I got rampage.

i typically main vet and for me personally i found more success playing as selfish as possible straying from the team compared to being altruistic in reviving and what not. Pretty much re-wired my brain.

So I’ve been playing Auric (Not as Scum) just to see if I’m doing smth wrong, and everytime Hivescum is in the team they get their ass kicked. After they go down for the first time it takes like 3 mins before they are gone for good. They seem not to be able to cope with the amount of enemies that Auric throws at you.

Yet when I play Scum on Heresy everyone (and many ppl here) goes on about how it is such a strong class. It’s not? Seems to me that most ppl just have not reached the wall that is Auric difficulty.

And I understand Fatsharks approach, better underpowerd so it can get buffed than the other way around, but I just don’t see what the hype is about.

I think you’re just seeing operator error.

It isn’t underpowered people are just bad (and not just the scum players the game is infested with rage quiting plebs of every class right now) especially all the returning players that are gonna leave again a couple of weaks.

I have and scum is strong in auric

Give it some time. Only just been released. People still discovering skill nodes, weapons etc synergies.

Came across a great Hive player in Auric running Rampage and…Rashad and Zarona. Guess he doesn’t like the new weapons or a Zealot player who likes the classics.

I feel like its a fragile class. Kind of like a glass cannon but without much of a cannon. Like, I can’t think of what this class does better than the others who are also more durable.

So I just tried the ranged build… Jesus christ! You literally have infinte ammo!

Yeah I feel like this.

Ganger doesn’t excel at anything.

Jack of all trades, master of none.

Impossible to even revive teammates because they are so fragile. You can’t stand still for a millisecond.

I’m currently doing penances in order they arrived with the abilities so having to stick with desperado until I’ve done the penance. Maybe I’ll have better luck with the melee.

But yeah I’m not having a huge amount of fun. Everything feels unnecessarily difficult with loads of micromanaging mixed into the combat. Like, I have enough to think about with the combat. I don’t want to have to manage a stimm recharge that is vital for the class to feel equally powerful to the other classes.

Feeling like I’ve been jipped here tbh.

Nothing feels powerful enough to warrant the extreme fragility.

Getting basically one-shotted by pox walkers on malice is f***ing lame.

Oh that sounds bug that will never get fixed? Where a special or any enemy whatsoever just appears behind you? Yeah good luck with that with 1 toughness and 1 hp and seemingly never ending mystery corruption from wherever

I did this the entire match (It’s auric btw) it is impossible to run out of ammo with this build and no that’s not hyperbole, I crit all the time and crits make me immune to all damage. If this is weak…what the grut is strong?

Melee build definitely has a lot of power with stacking crit chance. Rampage Adrenaline with Riposte Shivs is basically DS4 Zealot.

Rampage with chem dependency and coated weaponry combined with a chaisword with shred is nuts

I’ve run out of ammo quite a bit. The ability doesn’t last forever and still has cool down where ammo is consumed.

I did just have a go with rampage or rage or whatever it’s called (middle tree) and I did survive a lot better than with desperado.

Do you have pickpocket? Because that’s what gives you infinite ammo not the ult or aura.

Rampage is more fun👍

Long range gameplay almost nonexistent. Emphasis on gunplay. Arbites was Cop Kruber, Scum is Hood Kruber.

Use Mk6, it’s alternate mode (blue light on the gun) applies tox in an AoE once the target dies. Mk2’s alt does the useless explosion. Blessings are whatever you want since the tox itself is the point of the gun, but I’d just take hotshot because more cleave is always good.

Crit applies one extra stack of tox like all other DoT weapon crits.

Scum is definitely being carried by a couple nodes right now. The Vulture Dodge 1s of attack immunity on ranged builds with the auto pistols is probably the strongest thing the class can do. Hyper Violence and Hyper Critical nodes are pretty solid. Chem grenades are phenomenal and the needle pistol is amazing for melee builds. That all being said, the class is definitely weaker as a baseline than other classes. It’s the only class who’s skills don’t start cooling down until they fully expire, it generally has less options for the kind of heavy armor spam present past Auric difficulty, and it lacks stagger on most weapons which is problematic as horde density increases. I think the class is fun, I enjoy playing it, but it’s honestly pretty mid and that’s ok. I would rather classes launch fun, but weak. As opposed to broken op.

Are there even any build that synergize well with the Needler?

Barely anything in the skill tree work with it. It doesn’t proc anything range relate and most toxin nodes outside toxin strenght are kinda meh.

Chem dependency seem like the go to at first since it give critical chance for extra stack and some survival but it doesn’t synergize well with Stim supply for some reason.

Seen like it’s better to use it as sub weapon for melee build than using it as a main, tbh.

Accurate. Here’s the build:

Crowbar One Shot Everything

I seem to be the odd one out here but I find Scum super powerful, melting armour with shivs crit/chem build, and I think Adrenaline Frenzy is constantly proccing which is giving an almost relentless 5% toughness per second. But yeah, get caught and you’re prob going down.

I’ve not yet tried pairing vulture’s dodge with slippery customer. That might get silly - shoot crit slide = impervious to damage. But maybe it won’t work quite like this.
